Outkast truly is a horrific group.

Be nice to my Skoorbie!

*Mean, pregnant woman stomps her feet*

Personal opinion = personal opinion regardless of 2 - 200 songs to which he has listened! If he doesn't like the only 2 he has heard, why on earth would be subject himself to more??

AND Skoorb tends to jump to conclusions rather hastily...I will admit that. He also LOVES to post things to get you guys going and it always works! Why do you fall for it? Will you never learn? 😛

Go back and start at Atliens; then form an opinion of them.
I hate the two songs I've been exposed to, and considering that those songs are the ones that are coming out when Outkasts popularity is bigger than ever I think it safe to say that most people prefer those songs to the older ones. Thusly, I see no reason to expose myself to more of them than I have do in the few seconds before turning the station whenever they come on.

Their sound now is more popular as it attracts the teeny bopper pop crowd. You know, little Jenny the cheerleader and poser Billy in the suburbs? People like them...

Old school Outkas had some of the sickest beats and best flow in the day (among "commcercial" hip hop).

I don't think the ALBUM as a WHOLE is any more of a popular sound than any of the previous albums. Sure, if you listen to them side by side it may sound that way, but that's because of technology and maturity.

I don't see how a teeny bopper could listen to the love below or speakerboxxx any more than the last album.

You'd be very surprised as the two singles are the very reason my "teeny bopper" neices love Outkast.

Right, because of those two singles. But the point is that the albums are not tenny bopper albums, whereas the singles are.

I've only heard two songs of theirs that I know to be theirs. Hey Ya is just outright annoying. It's mildly catchy, but more annoying, so I give it a thumbs down. Now their song caroline is on the radio all day long. That song is one of the worst to hit the air waves in years - even worse than Ashley Simpson's recent plunge into music. The worst thing about them is that they win so many awards, but in a society where Blender magazine noted Fitty cent as the best artist of last year(?), I shouldn't be surprised.

I met two people from Cananda and they both suck. Therefore I can say with great confidence that all of Canada sucks...

is there something wrong with the above statement?

lol, Outkast is great once you turn off the goddamn radio

What true fan of music goes to MTV or the radio to hear talent? Give me a break

I love old Outkast but that seems to be a trend for me. I like old Snoop, Ice Cube and Dr. Dre among others. It seems once they reach the pinnacle of success they tend to release commercialized sh!t that will make good radio play. I think one of the best rap albums of all times is Ice Cube's Death Certificate but now his new stuff doesn't even come close. They just lose something as they get richer and more pressured to top their last album.

im a fan of outkast, but if skoorb doesnt like them, no sweat off my sac. thats is his personal preference, no big deal. but ill agree with the other posts, their old material was better, and in fact, this album was meant to be a change from their previous releases.

heh, that sexy female voice is provided by Kelis, the same girl who brought us 'milkshake (brings all the boys to the yard)'

Please we are not even going to start with Milkshake...

That's a pretty dumb statement when you say in your post you have only heard two songs. Review their first three albums, then come back and make a thread.
Damm str8! Skoorb, seriously, for your first day back, this thread sux. Outkast's first three albums are incredible. Check them out and THEN form your opinions. I don't care for "Caroline" either, for the record.

exactly

for the record, I don't listen to outkast. I don't even think I've heard more than 2 songs by them. But they are popular and I've heard good things about them so...

It's like someone formulating an opinion that all Nissans suck after one drives a particular Nissan car for a few minutes. Some people dislike Nissan, some people dislike Outkast without giving much effort into testing the products out. That's just the way it is.

You've heard two songs of theirs and your surprised they've won awards. What do you know about them? You herad two singles out of many albums they've made.

Good job sir.

Generally I agree with your statements Skoorb, but I would definitely disagree with you regarding Outkast. While there latest album is not their best and is more "Pop" music than their normal fare, their older albums like Atliens and Stankonia were great. If you were familiar with these two albums and still didn't like their stuff, then I'd respect your opinion, but I think you're opinion is based on too little exposure to them.

It would be like saying U2 sucked after listing to their 1197 Pop Album...which was horrific.

Playaz Ball and Elevators from 2 of their earlier albums would be good examples of their music. Outkast does not get enough credit for helping create the "southern" sound.

i absolutely hate outkast. they make me want to kill myself.

but even at that, i think they have talent and are the best hip-hop act to make it big in a long time. i just personally can't stand them.

One day I heard "Hey Ya" 5 times in a row, once on the radio, then VH1, then MTV, then in a commercial, then radio again. all in the span of 10 minutes. Ever since then I have thought to myself "Why do good groups die in plane, car, helicoptor, accidents while this crap rages on" Hopefully they get hit by a bus or something.

ClearChannel and all the other mindless radio stations are to blame for OutKast's overexposure. If I heard the same Beatles song a million times over on the radio, I'd be pretty sick of them too.

Yes, I think it was from an article that was linked here that I learned how shamefully small their playlists are with some being worse than others. The reason we hear them over and over, regardless of what group it is, is because they have tiny playlists so you are literally going to hear it all day long since they have nothing else to fill their rotation with.
