Maine's outgoing Republican Party chairman plans to investigate claims that "dozens of black people" unfamiliar to local officials voted in rural Maine towns, the Bangor Daily News reports.

“In some parts of the state, there were dozens of black people who came in to vote,” Charlie Webster said in an interview. “Nobody in town knew them.”

Webster plans to send thousands of postcards with a picture of the state capitol to registered voters. He is interested in the postcards that are returned as undeliverable in his investigation of voter fraud.

Meh, the way I figure it, the fella was in the firm grip of loss and perturbed over the spanking the Repubs got in the elections and was searching his soul for the real reasons why his party lost so badly. Then, as he lay in bed coming to grips with the horror of how the nation will decend into the pits of depravity and communism now that all is lost, his anguished conciousness had an epiphane and voila! I remember a story out of Pittsburgh aroung 5-7 years ago. Young black man driving his uncle's Benz who happened to play for the Steelers. Pulled over because the cops didn't think a young black man would be driving that kind of car. Argument ensued and the man would up dead because cops crushed his chest detaining him.

Middle size towns maybe; not the small ones (unless things have changed in the past 50 years)

Even if you do not associate with them; you still recognize them.
Your kids go to school with them; they are at some social functions, etc.

Your thinking of the Southern US. The rural north is as white as a snow field in many many places. But that doesn't mean the people are racist, Maine last time I checked was 90%+ white and voted for Obama overwhelmingly.

I do not see people from somalia moving into the back woods rural towns.

Employment is usually tourism and logging with some field work for agriculture.
not a great demand to pull people 100s of miles from a community.

So where did these mysterious "black people" come from? Were they smuggled into the state the night before the election? How did they all manage to successfully register to vote without being found out? They either had to register by mail with the state and provide significant documentation or register in person at the town halls of these small communities and be scrutinized by people that don't know them.

The conspiracy does not seem plausible, even in small towns.
