Outboard Motor and Boat question

its on a 1998 KeyWest Stealth Hull

Key West makes a good boat, from what i have been told. Anyway im going to be using this boat mainly for Salt Water Fishing, and recreational use. They guy is asking $12,900 for the boat. As far as i can tell the boat is in prestine condition.

Anyway what are your thoughts on this outboard as well as the price. It does include a trailor.

need more details on the boat and engine
doesn't sound like a bad deal off the top, perhaps a bit expensive for a 6-7 year old rig, but worth it if kept up properly.
where was the boat used primarily, salt or fresh? all maintenance records kept? what does the lower unit on the outboard look like? - does it have dings, scratches, corrossion, etc. a lower unit on an outboard of that size would be prolly 1200-1800 to replace, which would be necessary if it wasn't flushed properly after every salt water use.
what does the bilge on the boat look like? you can tell alot there, is there mold, is it musty smelling, are there water lines left in the gelcoat/stringers, etc?
i don't know what climate you are in, but if the boat was ever stored for a winter, were the tanks stabilized and/or fuel lines disconnected?
just some small questions to start off with....

boat was in FL its whole life. A man owned it and used it every so often for the first two years then it sat in his car port. Where then the guy whom owns it now (does this as a hobby) has had everything check out mechanically and everything is good beside some relay or something in the motor which wont let the motor go over 3k RPM? anyway hes getting that fixed before he sells it. Pumps were replaced as well as water fuel seperator.

The hull looks mint as well as the trailor. My question mainly resides on this outboard which is a 1997 Mercury Nitro Magnum 150hp. Cant really find any specs on this motor and the first site linked in here didnt haev this? or is there a special way to tell?

Don't wanna spoil your fun.. but.......

Where are you going to take this boat out of?? east or west coast? I can't say much about the east coast.. but for salt fishing you would want something with higher sides IMO...

you can find lots of good ocean going boats around that price range. I fish primarly off the oregon coast in a 19ft and do fine.. i've been as far out as 28miles after tuna last year.. what a blast!! there ar ea lot of sites out there that deal with boats as well i will try to find them for ya..
if I don't remmeber shoot me an email and I will do it athat way.

flats....mainly in the river....not much off shore fishing for me...dont like the fact that the one time i did the boat broke down and we were stuck 45 miles out for 9-10 hours and it was pouring rain (Mid afternoon thunder shower FL is known for)

Anyway im a big saltwater fisher but i stick to the innercoastals. 8 miles across (at the wide point) and land on both sides so either way you drift...you hit land...and not have to wait hours and hours
