Running 2k w/sp4, I formatted and reloaded the O/S
Updates drivers and software.
Loaded my most used programs.
Set everything up as I usually do and have done for the past couple of years.
I have 13 processes loaded at startup.

There are 2 program I use all the time; Opera and ThumbsPlus as I have for probably 5 years.

All of a sudden I'm getting out of virtual memory warnings and evry long shutdown times (30 to 60+ seconds when it use to be less than 10 seconds) if I use these programs for a while. I can start the system and then shut it down without doing anything all is fine. NO hangs.

I'm not sure it is either of these programs, it's just that I use these all the time. I looked at task manager but the memory usage of the processes doesn't add up to that amount. Example; as I type this the process total shows 180700, but the memory usage in Task Manager shows 267400.

I have run SpyBot and my antivirus program (updated) and both are clean. Any ideas?

I forgot to add that I set my file to start at 100MB and limit it to 300MB.
Now before you say that's the problem, I have done this since I started using 2k about 2 years ago with NO problem.
ANYWAY, I have increased the size twice to 700MB and it still barks at me!

As far as the shutdown, it never did this before. I have never had long shutdown issues before (that I remember, or at least this consistant).

I have 512MB of RAM.

That is your problem. :p

Why not just let Windows manage it and be done?

Do you have an ATI AGP video card installed, by any chance? Using Cat drivers newer than 4.9? Try running some older ones, like 4.9, or 4.6, or something, and see if that helps. I'm curious.

Please reread! That's not the problem. I have increased it to 700MB and it still barks!. I have done this for 2 years without a problem!

Yes on the ATI card. It's from Powercolor. A 9600Pro V4.4 drivers I believe.

Regardless of your affinity for managing it yourself, there is no reason not to let Windows manage the size. Could you at least try doing that and see if the problem persists?

After I ran that and continued using the system for awhile the shutdown was fine.

I also ran UHP Clean from M$ suggested by someone else. This result was from a long (bad) shutdown:

How about the possibility of a problem/issue with the nForce2 UDP drivers? I have the updated drivers now, the old drivers were from last year, but still the same thing.
