They have a huge, shiny, fancy HQ building in the northern VI area.
Good. I don't want the people defending my Second Amendment rights working out of a housing project. If you're jealous, please go cry somewhere else.
those of you that for some reason continue to donate money to this dinosaur should be happy to know that you are basically throwing your money away.
I'm happy to know somebody is sticking up for my rights more than you are, and I'm glad to pay my dues towards that end.
It's going towards paying the ungodly amounts of money required to run things out of that building, and the huge staff that apparently works there.
Ungodly? Do you know whether they occupy all the office space? How much it costs to run? New buildings are pretty efficient these days, and real estate holdings are a vital part of any organization's financial holdings. Again, I appreciate that they're well-funded. If you're worried about people spending money, I suggest you take a look at Americans as a whole, or Congress, or the presidents over the last 9 years. Attacking the NRA for having a nice building just proves how much of a fucking tool you are.
Also, got a 'survey' call from the NRA last week - they played a bit of drivel from some schmuck w/the NRA - telling me how, unless I acted now - Hillary Clinton and the United Nations were going to sign a treaty that would ban guns in the United States - I kid you not.
The UN has been pushing weapons laws on member nations for some time - I kid you not.
When the clip was over - the caller asked "do you feel that Hillary Clinton and the UN should decide American gun policies?"
I responed with - "do you really believe that to be the case?" Are you guys really spending money to spread this crap?
The threat may not be imminent, but it's hardly contrived. Creating a crisis to spur action is nothing the NRA has a monopoly on. A democratic congress and administration are doing it to ram healthcare legislation through, and a republican congress and administration did it to ram the Patriot Act through. Don't act so disgusted.
Her response - 'well, you do know that United Nations treaties have no expiration date" - i cut her off - I said 'please tell me you are kidding', but she stayed right on task with more drivel about how Congress if full of anti-gun liberals.
Congress is largely controlled by democrats, who have anti-gun stances. Most major victories for gun advocates have come from the courts, not the legislature.
It really is amazing that people still think the NRA is needed, and they continue to, apparently very well - fund it.
It is very much needed - gun legislation would otherwise go largely unchecked. How long have you lived in America?
It's like most of the auto-unions - it may have served a purpose once, but it's time is long past due.
The NRA has never been more needed than it is now. They are the largest gun advocacy group in the nation, and in light of advancing anti-gun legislation that continues to be bandied about in congress, I'm damned glad somebody is standing up to protect the rights of the citizens.
Now they are just spreading the kind of divisive BS that isn't good for anyone other than their own pockets.
Um, no - there's truth in that. Maybe if you quit being such a pompous dickwad and would actually let them explain things to you or tried to do some research, you'd know better, but instead you're content with being a posting a weak rant about how nice the NRA building is.
for the record - I'm not for banning guns in this country - but I think our rate of gun violence is an absolute black eye on the face of America, and we aren't even trying to fix it, in part because of the NRA and their minions.
Gun legislation has not decreased gun violence in America. Different countries have different results - you can cite countries on either end of the spectrum. The NRA exists to protect rights gauranteed to citizens by the constitution.
Think before you post.
