So my Samsung 2010 is started to run low on toner.. I checked toner on Amazon and it's about $70... would you wait for the next sale on these things (I got the actual printer for $30 A/R) or just buy the toner?

look into refill kits. I used one with my ml1710 and it works flawlessly! the starter toner was only like 1/3 full but with the kit you can fill it right up to full CAPACITY

Well, currently the ML-2010 is at Staples for $49.99 AR or $34.38 (with the 12% customer appreciation from here )if that helps your decision.

edit: or, according to keeleysam, for less if you can PM.

the toner that comes with it is 1/3 filled, iirc.

But at that price, it's less than 1/3 the cost of a full toner.

EDIT: And here is my cost of the printer:

$130 - 12% - $15 off 40 - $9 ink coupons = $10.40 + tax.

I didn't bother with PM.

I hate rebates though... always get ripped off by them. What's an easy rebate?

It's pretty sad when it's a legitimate option to buy a whole new printer rather than get new ink.

Screwed up business model!

So true. There must be a printer junk yard somewhere that is overflowing with perfectly good printers, just dry of ink.

Indeed.

May I just say that I'm quite happy that Ford/Chevy/Chrysler don't own the gas stations!

$500 cars and $125 per gallon for gas!

I don't print often, like about once per week, so when I do, I sometimes find a color not printing. I have to pull the tank out and squeeze it slightly into a tissue to prime it. Takes about a minute, but for the price it's very much worth it to me.

I own the iP3000, and got my mother-in-law the same. Got my son this iP6000 and my mom the same. I bought about 65 cartridges in my last order. They don't stack shipping costs. Cartridges come in shrink wrapped plastic, inside a sealed bag, inside a sealed box. I have no idea how they make money on that stuff!

HP ships with full cartidges.
That should be a consideration if you do buy a new printer.

Also, I think their toner is a much better deal.
I can find cartridges for my LJ 1000 for 40 bucks if I dig around.
Thats a penny a page.

I just recently refilled my wife's toner for her laser printer. Very easy and much cheaper than the $120 it normally costs.

I still have my 1/3 filled toner from my Brother HL-1440 from two years ago. I don't print every day, but I print quite enough being a college student. I can't imagine how long a full toner will last.

Save money.

1. Buy new printer.
2. Take toner out of box.
3. Put new toner in old printer.
4. Sell new printer on eBay.
5. ???
6. PROFIT!!!
