I still have a Q6600@3600 system with X38 chipset which served me a LONG time.

What is the enthusiast's "best bang for the buck" overclocking CPU right now? I7 920 D0 stepping using DDR3 and trying to get 4Ghz ish??

If you've held out this long, may as well wait until Sandy Bridge is released in a couple of months.

Nothing beats unlocking cores of low end amd chips if you want bang for bucks

If you are a gambler...My 550 X2 did not unlock. So I don't think you can say they are the best bang/buck.
