Careful, there. This hard drive is the infamous IBM "Deathstar" 75GXP. This drive has an abnormally high failure rate, and a lot of people have been complaining about it.

Yeah I think it only applies to the 40 giger, I have the same one that people have said it has been dying on them. Beats me, mine is still kicking fine. 🙂

Where did you find documented evidence of an abnormally high failure rate? I have been trying to hunt down an official source. I know of the single lawsuit, anything else?
