Well, they're back at Computer Geeks. Hurry up....these sell out fast and everyone seems to resell them on EBay.

Kodak Smart Picture Frame

$99.00 each. :)

EDIT:

Well, those 1,500 units went pretty quickly. But if what they told me in the middle of the week is true, they will continue to get supplies in on an occassional basis. Congrats to all who got them. Me, I got my two! :D

I think it's a better deal without the networking feature. Who wants to pay a subscription for the networking capability? You realized that when they mean networking feature, they are talking about a modem connection.

Thanks for the hot deal! BTW check your favorite site for TECHno BARGAINS. There's a coupon for a free JamIT sound mixer (don't ask me what it does, I have no clue).

I ordered one last week and the Mastercard code wouldn't work. Tried it twice. Sent them an email asking for explanation, no reply. Anyone else run into same problem?

thanks stevenyc!!!

for those having trouble with the 10% code, make sure you're using a mastercard and make sure you insert a space after "mc" in the code. the code is 2 words. i too had trouble until i inserted the space.

The Coupon is not valid on "Geeky Specials" so if you purchased an item that was the discount would no be applicable.

Thanks SteveNYC...

That's funny, because I just checked for it this morning and it wasn't there.

With MC Exclusives, $95.10 shipped. Now, the decision of whether to keep it or give as a gift!!!

Thanks SteveNYC,
I was looking for this item in the past few days. I almost got the Kingston one but I read some post that the picture quality isn't as good as Kodak.
Good that Computer Geeks restock them quicky.

I got 2 of them with $8 shipping.

You don't have to use a MasterCard to use the MasterCard code. I've used it several times for items I've ordered and have always paid with a Visa card.

Yes, CompactFlash is the only way to get pictures onto the device. I don't know what the limit is on the compactflash size. It comes with an 8 meg card. One posted said it can handle a 32 meg card. But I'm hoping it can go even higher.

Even if I don't use a MC, but just entered 'MC Exclusives', the price there still reflect a 10% off. Dunno what would happen if I submit this order.

they have plenty left:

"Sorry! We cannot fill your order of 3000 units, but we can give you 1339"

also www.storybox.com no longer works, so the networked ones are useless anyway.

Wow, that seems like a great deal. The cheapest on pricegrabber is ~$300.

How did they get it so cheap?! This is a great gift for a friend of mine.

Thanks!

I bought one a few months ago- this is a pretty nice unit. I paid $$$ for the network (well, phone) version a few months back and I was very impressed with the quality of the display and the general look and feel of the unit.

Unfortunately, as soon as I gave it to my parents, kodak basically stopped supporting it and the dialup updates etc have been all screwed up.

I did just order one of these for myself - unlike some of the competitors, this actually looked nice sitting on a desk etc. I'm really pissed about the bad service, turned an awesome gift into a terrible one (my mom calls tech support like every 2 weeks and then I have to hear about how it isn't working) but if you are using it as a standalone device, it's slick.

i got one for the mrs. for christmas so she can have it at her office. now i'm wondering if i should get a second one for the home. i called compgeeks and was about to change the order to 2 frames and save on shipping (he said they have about 1300 of them), but then i asked about the return policy and he said that they'll probably charge a 15% restocking fee even if i didn't open it. so i guess i'll just keep one for now. does anybody have this frame? i'm wondering if the novelty wears off, and whether it actually is usable as a nice way to display photos in the home. thanks!

Anyone know how the Kodak picture quality compares to the Kensington Digital Photo Album Plus?

I read a post by someone that there are two versions of this device? Is that true? I don't think so.

I think someone is confusing the fact that Kodak has terminated the Storybox Network for the device and that the only way to get pictures into the frame is through the CompactFlash slot, which has always been on the device.

There was a posting on the USENET some time ago of a guy who had an arguement with Kodak because he didn't want to subscribe past his initial six month required subscription. The person who responded from Kodak at the time apologized to him and said that the device did not require the use of the service and that the guy had fullfilled the terms of service when he initially bought the device.

Can anyone actually confirm that this product actually LACKS the modem that was used to connect to the Storybox network service.

Not that it matters really. Either way, the product works the same way in a standalone mode and there are no terms of service any more. But I was just curious.
