Out of idle interest, how old do you have to be to get a CC in the US?

18 for voting, I think 17 is the youngest you can get a CC by yourself.

I believe that 18 is the age at which you can enter a legally binding contract in most states.

Having said that, some credit card companies are so loose with their lending standards that housepets have been known to get credit cards.

As an aside i'll never understand how a nation can consider it logical to let their 18, 19, and 20 year olds vote, get into as much debt as they like, enlist, and yet not have a :beer:

Vietnam is why.

Seriously.

They changed the laws stating that 18 yrs old can vote and such. Before that it was 21.
Reason being that 18yr olds were being drafted but they were not even allowed to vote on those that had called for their draft.

When I got married in Australia, my 20 year old sister loved the minimum drinking age of 18.

Here in the USA it's 21.
