Heh not likely, its more than the cost of an amp. Its very unlikely the cable company will or even can extend their plant to his house.

Sattelite isn't that badly priced. The monthly cost is a little high, but not unheard of. Pings suck, but it is broadband. The installation costs aren't cheap either but if you're going to be living in the same place for the next few years it might be worth it to have it.

The only other thing you could do is look for a wireless isp in your area.
