So there's 4 of us connected to our wifi wirelessly, and it seems when my laptop is on the network we end up having to reset the router every hour or so--and when I'm not it's more like every 4-5 hours.

Is there any reason this could be? I'm not d/ling anything or using up any extra bandwidth--the only difference maybe that my laptop is older, and I'm on XP whereas they're all on Vista.

Any ideas on what we could do about it?

The more people that are connected, the more resources being used up. The fact that you have to reboot every 4-5 hours anyways is a problem. What router and firmware are you using?

When someone else is off the router though, it still rarely disconnects--and when I'm on it myself it disconnects pretty often as well.

It's a WRT54G, not sure what firmware is on there right now.

If you're using the stock firmware, check out linksys website for latest. sometimes weird issues like that can be cleared with the firmware update...sometimes it's a hardware problem. worth a shot though

If you are running BT or other P2P programs they can open LOTS of connections and flood most weak home routers
