Did you not read the link I provided? This is the federal government filing a lawsuit against a city government over a perceived violation of voter rights, which the DOJ requests to be remedied via gerrymandering explicitly along racial lines. I'll post it again:

https://www.justice.gov/opa/pr/just...-rights-suit-against-city-eastpointe-michigan

White people voting for white people is racist? How about when black people vote for black people? When do citizens have a right to choose who they want to vote for?

The entire Trayvon Martin debacle is more than enough evidence regarding self-defense (though granted, I thought Holder had disappeared a while ago and not so recently, my bad for blaming Obama and Lynch exclusively).
Constitution meet burger boy. Again the Feds can't order this. They have to convince the courts they are correct. Courts would make the remedy decision. Its the same story in Texas. There the courts ruled GOP enacted voter law that is discriminatory.

I don't think you understand what it is you read.

Its nice to see peoples true colors finally come out though.

Explain it to me, sweetcheeks.

White people making it so that black people have no voice in govt is racist, by definition & by federal law cited in your own link. The East Lansing city council knows exactly what they're doing.

And... Duh-vert!

How is that racist by definition? Since when is race a factor in whom one is allowed to vote for?

Read your own link, buckaroo.

Talking about the Obama DoJ's record wrt voting rights has nothing to do with our new law & order president. It's desperate diversion.

I did. The DOJ has filed a lawsuit because white people voting for white people undermines black voting rights apparently (nevermind that the city was more than 90% white in 2000 anyways). They want to change that by getting the city to gerrymander in ethnic districts.

I already agreed with your OP that Trump will turn a blind eye to police abuse; I actually posted the same thing in the 2017 predictions thread just a couple hours before you made this thread. I'm just expanding things to say that I'll take the good of DOJ's

Eastpointe is ~1/3 black today. 2000 doesn't matter. What does matter is your dishonest defense of racist methods yielding racist results. Or is it just a cosmic accident that they've never had a black council person?

Their council amounts to a grand-whopping total of five people, and they serve four year terms, meaning we're looking at maybe four elections maximum with a sizeable black population. Do you think that every local government that doesn't immediately mirror demographic trends is racist? I should add that the DOJ admitted that the black residents never filed a complaint of not having representation in their government. Their argument was basically "White people vote for white people, black people vote for black people, white people are like sooooo racist like ohmygod".

So coy. They know what they're doing in Eastpointe, and Texas, and N Carolina. Don't pretend.
