Our college living room gaming setup

Got a new phone so as I was unloading photos from the old one I stumbled across this photo of our gaming setup....

Left was a 47" lcd w/ xbox360
Middle is 120" screen - 1080p from optoma hd20 projector w/ ps3
right was 50" plasma with Wii (used 99% of the time for netflix)

....since I've graduated and gotten a place of my own the home theater setup is changing with 2- 55" tvs (LED and a Plasma) and the 120" screen/projector.... work in progress though, have to make it look nice for the Mrs.

That's fine for a college game room, but I wouldn't recommend something like that for a living room.
 
Is it not distracting using one tv and having the other two doing stuff?

I honestly can't live without more than two going at the same time now, its spoiled me.

I really like white noise so we would always have The Office on since I have seen every episode realistically like 10+ times, so just from the audio I knew what was happening... and then the roomie and I could both play what we wanted at the same time... best part of the projector was split screen COD was still plenty huge for each of us.

As I am building the new home theater setup I was thinking just do the projector/screen but honestly can't live without the multiple displays.... its awesome for football sunday too, Dtv's NFL sunday ticket is great when you can put the game mix on the projector and the important games on the other displays... again, I've just ben spoiled and can't go back.

That's fine for a college game room, but I wouldn't recommend something like that for a living room.

Oh yeah, the Mrs. made that quite clear when we bought our new home... The living room just has one 55" LCD... its "tame"

I've got a pretty huge family room in the basement that will become the new "theater/game" room... everything will look far more professional and not just hodge podged together... all tvs will be wall mounted, speakers hidden in built ins, room off to the side will house all of the media sources (dtv boxes, ps3, htpc, etc)... but its a slow WIP because of the job.

Yeah, multiple displays are nice. For me it would come in handy having the UFC playing (or some other event) on the right display while me and my buddy game on the main (center) display.
 
The only problem I see, is that you have the ps3 on the big screen when it should be the xbox 😎
 
That 47" looks like a toy compared to the 120" screen (I thought that was a 23" or so until I read the text). Not sure I would ever want to be looking at so many screens at once, but regardless, sweet.

The fiance' loves it!
She gets the notebook or some crap, while I get a football game and BF3, she is happy because we're watching a movie together, I'm happy because I'm not actually watching said movie.
 
Had a similar setup in my dorm room. Lived in a big triple dorm room with two other guys, and one of them had a nice projector. We hung a white sheet on the wall, and put the projector on the opposite side of the room. It was awesome.
 
I wish I had that kind of money to blow when I was a college student. I thought I was doing well having a 32" 4x3 panasonic tv flat screen with component input. >.<

I had the same reaction.... lol!

The projector screen actually looks great, but obviously the resolution of the pic is low. I'm very happy with a 50" plasma, 360, Wii, Linux HTPC and a couch. More than enough TBH. :thumbsup:
