Pretty much poverty level now. HAHA

This year will be an exercise of frugality. Live in CA, LA area and own my own place and I DON?T want to loose it. I thought I would be totally stressing about this but I am ok, cup of soups for a year here I come.

Think I am going to have to cancel my internet through charter rip off $60 for 5 down 512 up is too much. Probably am going to have to take on a roommate too.

At least I still have a great family and my health.

Anyone else out their take a pay cut?

my wife (lawyer) took a pay cut recently... the firm laid off a few people and gave everyone else a pay cut. not 35% but still a significant amount.

and you get to look forward to a income tax increase and x2 DMV for your vehicles and a whole slew of new "fees" in the kalifornia budget. we all have to tighten out belts but state gov.gets to live the high life.

Money saving tips:
-Cut back on cell phone plan (don't get 1000 minutes if you're only using 400/month)
-Cut back on internet or cancel altogether
-Brown bag lunch
-Eat out less, buy foods when they are on sale and in bulk (if they will last a while). You can buy meats when they are on sale and freeze them for later usage.

That's all I can think of at the moment.

Start collecting ketchup packs from fast food places. You can make some pretty good tomato soup if you mix the ketchup with hot water.

Yea I noticed that. Stupid raising taxes. I got rid of my extra car yesterday. Why do they think that raising taxes is going to stimulate more income?

All it's going to do is cause people to cut back on their spending cars and in total decrease their income. They need to freaking cut back on programs already; the CA state budget is a bloated pig.

But never mind about that I am not trying to turn this into P&N.

Where do you shop? Costco, Cash & Carry or Grocery Outlet can sometimes bring food bills down up to 40%, especially if you get good at recognizing deals and are willing to change your menu on the fly. Dunno if you guys have Saars markets down there, but for us it's been the cheapest place to buy decent-quality meat. Grocery Outlet is best for dry goods. Produce is the trickiest to buy cheap.

$50 a week is average... I spend that including eating out. You could drop that down brown bagging it. Read the blog the simple dollar

Instant noodles is 33 cents a pack. If you eat 6 packs a day, you'll have saved 36 dollars a week, and over 1 thousand a year!
