Well, I wouldn't say deal of the year, Staples had a 1GB for $40 recently. Yeah, no time machine, but if we are talking deal of the year.... Anyway, I'd say this is a warm deal, thanks for the heads up.

For $3 more you can get one of these. I bought one last winter and it is TINY! One of my most handy gadgets, and it gets tons of compliments! :)

Wasn't that after rebate?? This is $48+shipping out the door...no waiting for rebates. I haven't seen any instant rebates on these

Deal of the year? For $5 it would be. So the answer is no.

Definately not the deal of the year. My 1GB Memorex flash drive was $45 from Amazon after a $20 rebate.

Flash prices will continue to drop because of the deal that Apple struck while piecing together the Nano. At least that's what I've read in the NY Times and a couple tech sites.

So there will be many more "Deals of the Year"

The staples deal I got in on was definately hotter. Not a bad price though if you weren't able to get in on that deal.

I was going to post the same link.
Mine has been running strong for a year plus, and the small siize of the bare stick without the caddy is still unbelievable!

That's got to be the first time a guy has been complimented for how small his junk is. :D

That looks pretty cool. The ability to carry it in your wallet is especially nice-my Sandisk Minicruzer has already gone through the washer & dryer cycle once and I have only had it a month or so.

My uneducated guess is that these things will go the way of the pocket calculator and will be in the couple of dollar range within a year.

As ar as the rest of the comments, it's either full moon time or the users of the board have ingested far too much caffeine. People seem really harsh today for little reason.

I was at 2 staples in my area and they had the 2gig version of the Sony stick for 59.99$. YMMV though since each staples often has different things on clearance.

No the Sandisk Micro was OTD. I was lucky enough to get in on it. It was last Friday only. 43.00 and some change for me shipped to work. Best deal on a 1 GB drive so far. But the above deal is warm, especially if you don't have to pay tax. It would be around 58 shipped for me.

Probably because the deal is warm at best... Your "deal of the year" comment got me to look though. I guess it is not bad considering it is without rebate and from newegg.
