NatBone and Nessism (you can convert partitions in Win2k)

Win2k works well on Fat32. Also, if you have Win2k on one partition, and another is Fat32, you can convert the partition that Win2k is not installed on to NTFS. I did that, and it was fine. I suggest not having too much or any data on the partition you want to convert, just in case.

This changing can be done in Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Computer Management -> Storage, then Disk Management

I have a related question. I'm running Win98 now, and I have Partition Magic, but it's an older copy. It says it doesn't support Win2K. I just picked up a copy of Win2k and I want to install it, >but I also balked when I went to PMs site and saw the $70 price tag. I guess my question is, can I install Win2k on a FAT32 partition and have it run ok?

Thanks VI, but I guess I'm going to have to pass. I already have PM 4, and I just recieved an offer from powerquest to get the upgrade to 6.0 for $30, so I think I'm going to do that

And let's not forget this is Partition Magic *PRO* 4 we're talking
about. It has a few nice features not in PM4 standard. For example,
it has a "thrash" option that will obliterate the data on a
hard drive. Not just reset the partitions, but actually munge
the data itself, so it can't be recovered. This is a nifty
utility if you ever decide to sell an old hard drive to someone
else (or donate it to someone).

Of course, you can do what my company does, and just drill holes
in the hard drives before you send them off to charity or salvage.

How is DI4 superior/inferior to Ghost? I have Ghost right now, but I wouldn't pass up $30 for excellent software for another computer.

Drive Image and Ghost are very very similar. I doubt there's much advantage/disadvantage to one over the other.

This is Drive Image Pro, comes with DI4 and Partition Magic Pro 6 (PMPro has a few things PM regular doesn't, but it's not a *huge* upgrade). It's a very nice deal for the package, if you want Drive Imaging/Partitioning software.

Thanks for the offer Pyro, and I've had several, but I happen to have had PM6 and DI4 in the past. But if you read my post about halfway up, I'll see I'm not interested, thanks though. Though I do think it would be more appropriate at least in private message than a public forum.

vi, sorry if I misled you (bites lip in Clintonian way ;)), but I was still debating. I think I might pass on this, for as good a deal as it is, I'd rather not spend money on something I _might_ use in the future. I have PM4 and Ghost, so I'm set for now. I was thinking in terms of a second PC, but that's not going to happen anytime soon.

I'll definitely let you know if I change my mind. And good job on helping us Anandtechers out!
