Snapped this pic today.

Google maps location

Looks as if the police car t-boned the sedan. Nice to see minimal intrusion into the sedan's cabin, but it still must have hurt like a mofo! Is that a side curtain airbag I see?

The Ambulance went through a red light going around 50 MPH. An 8 year old girl was in critical condition, not sure how she is doing now.

In my opinion, NO car, ambulance, etc should be allowed through red lights. There is no crime scene, donut shop, mistress, nor injured person who is worth the extreme risk these emergency vehicles bestow upon the general uninvolved public when running red lights.

FTFY. Around here, emergency vehicles check for traffic and ensure that people are stopping and letting them through before they just blow through the intersection.

A lot of intersections where I live have a warning light above them that starts flashing when an emergency vehicle is coming in hot. They trigger along with the traffic lights, which change to give the emergency vehicle the green light.

In every town I have ever been in, when an Ambulance is going, I pull over on the side of the road, and watch as tons of other dumbasses completely ignore it, cut it off, etc.

On the same note though, I never seen an ambulance blow through any intersection, they always approach it and drive through it slowly.

So dumb ass ambulance driver, and dumb ass person in the car...

Though to the credit of the person in the car, I sometimes have trouble hearing sirens due to being partially tone deaf, and cars with good sound insulation make it worse. So there is also the possibility that the driver of the vehicle never even hear the ambulance, and blowing through a red light at 50 is certainly a dumb ass thing to do.

Watched an idiot cut between a fire truck and ambulance today. He made it by about 6 inches. To bad for him the cop behind the ambulance saw him and pulled him over.

Not only that, they honk like a PMSing woman on road rage and mania while going through the intersection.

:thumbsup::thumbsup:

They still tend to go WAY too fast and not pay enough attention, in my area anyway. We have had a couple of scenes similar to the OP, and I've personally seend 2-3 very close calls over the last year or so. LEOs are the worst about it.

Around here by the books they are supposed to go up to the intersection and come to a complete stop(at a red light) and then proceed. The driver of the ambulance was cited by the police.

The driver of the ambulance actually had a trainee in the passenger seat.

The family was from germany, just tourists. The place where the van was pulling out from is somewhat difficult to make left turns due to visibility(was terrible before the light was put in).

Our policy is you stop at red lights and stop signs. Not slow down, not roll, but STOP. Even in the middle of a chase, you stop. No excuses, no what if's.
