Anyone else have this problem? I have the HTC One X (still a relevantly awesome phone after 1+ years :) ) and I bought an Otterbox for $20 on sale at a Best buy.

I have no idea why I kept it on since I bought it because I usually just stay at home. I noticed a huge dip in performance from my phone, like lagging when going to the home screen or just moving around the phone. I figured it was just because I rooted or messed w/ it

Then I took the case off and holy fishsticks it was so hot... Maybe the otterbox suffocates the hell out of the thing??

Anyway I got a slimmer rubber case and a screen protector and it's all cooled up and workign fine.

What do you think?

My Otterbox Commuter was contributing to my iPhone 4S overheating while on runs over 1 hour long. 3 days in a row, at an hour and 5 minutes into a run, my phone audio and GPS would cut out on me and not come back for a few hours. It never did this before when I had the phone in an Incipio Feather case. The Genius I took it to said it shouldn't do that, but it did and he gave me a new phone.

So there's my story.

It overheated my iphone 4 on the boat. Never had issue until the otterbox with anything overheating. We have a Galaxy tab as our GPS/weather radar directly in the sun and it never overheats.

Interesting...

I felt like my otterbox was trapping all the heat in and there seemed like there was no way for it to get out of the case.

It probably has to do with the use of Silicone which acts as an insulator.

Absolutely. There's a reason they use silicone in homes toseal gaps around windows and doors. I have an otter box commuter for my HTC one and not only does the fitment suck, but my phone gets crazy hot.

The otter box I used on my iPhone 5 did the same thing. The phone would be uncomfortable to hold with how hot it was after pulling them out of the case following heavy use.

Never had issues that affected performance... But I wouldn't be surprised that after long term use they would have overheated to death.

All in all, I will never purchase otter box cases again. Over priced junk.
