Otterbox clone? Best cheap Android phone (shock proof) case?

With most cases you are going to get what you pay for. If you want max. protection get an Otterbox. I don't use them myself but my son had one that the screen protector part separated. Contacted them through the website, attached a picture and they sent out a new one. Most, if not all, of their cases carry a lifetime warranty so that should be part of your decision as well.

Why should I upgrade?
My Inc2 works great.
Does everything I need it to.
I was planning on getting 5 more years out of it.

if you're on a contract phone plan that's pretty stupid because you get free upgrades might as well use them, if you are off contract (assuming you are if you are on an Inc2) then if it works for what you need it for go ahead and try, i doubt it will last that long however, some critical failure will likely occur before then.

Speaking about Otterbox, note that there are different type of cases. The impact version is the cheapest but it's a pretty crappy simple silicone case, while the defender is what people who want to be serious about protection likes and it is the most expensive. There's also the commuter which is somewhere in the middle.

$18 is too much? First off, $18 is a great price for a real otterbox. Second, $18 is nothing if it protects your phone (probably the most important gadget for most of us) from being unusable after a single clumsy moment

Ha, I paid $55 for my otterbox defender and it's the best case i've ever had.

wait til you actually drop your phone. i ruined my otterbox clad droid x dropping it from 4 feet. the screen didnt crack but it got black dots. otter box is definitely not as secure as peeps say. also the silicon stretches out almost immediately and that doesnt look nice. the best cases are the verizon gel cases. they look really nice and are much more rugged than otterbox silicon and they keep their shape

Mine is the defender, it has foam inner padding, hard plastic 2nd layer, and a silicon outer shell. I have dropped it 6 or 7 times from 4+ feet onto concrete and other surfaces.

thats what i had too. i dropped it many times, and then i dropped it the "wrong" . i think it hit on the hard plastic rim and it ruined my screen. otterbox isnt as secure as you think. the silicon is also a mess and it adds size to your phone. again verizon gel cases, perhaps with screen cover, are the very best cases imho

There is no hard plastic rim, it's all silicon on the outer shell, even dropping it directly on the face will hit the silicon and not the plastic inner shell.
