Looking for a good old adventure game - love the mystery / history themes!

Holy hell, blast from the past. Laura Bow and I thought... Dagger of Amon Ra. Sure enough, guessed right. 20 years of not playing it and I still remember the character.

But no, sorry I don't know of any recent adventure games of that genre.

Man, there are a ton. Gabriel Knight series (you just missed a $3 sale), Dreamfall series, if you google for 'list of adventure games' I bet you will find hundreds.

There's also http://www.justadventure.com/ and gog.com has quite a few of the classic adventures.

Also check LucasArts - full throttle, day of the tentacle.

There are lists of recommendations on gog I think. Did you try the google search?

You didn't mention a response to the LucasArts games, those are recommended.

the only obscure one i've played would be "a new beginning", and I felt it was just okay. The audio could use some more polish, and I personally wasn't too impressed with how the story was executed (it's about global warming and I majored in environmental biology).

I'm probably going to give deponia a try. I bought several games in GOG's last sale.

Looks similar to Lure of the Temptress, which is one of my favorites!
