I thought my post was pretty plain, I want some knowledge. but not necessarly to do it using the Distrubuting forum for OT stuff.
1 How do you get the battery out?
2 How do you get into the BIOS?
3 Can I use the laptop without the battery it weighs a ton.
4 There is a little lever on the left side toward the rear bottom that pops out but does not seem to do anything.
5 The modem shows up as a 28,8 when it is supposed to be 56K Wrong driver maybe? I have windows 98se on it.
I have been looking for some time for a manual for this thing but no luck and this is my last resort, I figured maybe a teammate would have a little mercy on me.

Thanks for the link to the manual. I downloaded it and extracted it but cannot read it, I will work at it a little and see what is going on.

It shows up as a PRG file. in wordpad, makes no sense to me.

05-01-1998 User Guide/Addenda Toshiba Online User's Guide for Tecra 500 Series (v 07-15-1996; 3.8M)

If you downloaded this you have to run it after extracting it and it makes 3, 3 1/2 disks which you use to install the on-line user guide
 
Seems I used to have one years ago where I worked. Don't remember much about it, though. 😕


Oh wait, sure I do. Heck, in the Windows 95 README.TXT was a blurb about potential graphics problems with Toshiba laptops. The fix being to lower the graphics acceleration somewhere in the Display settings in Control Panel. That was mine....meaning that made it into there from a bug report I'd filed during the beta. 😀

Ok...I've had my Geek Moment for the year. I'll run along now....

OK !! I got it. Thanks for the link Freewolf, I finially got it figured out. I did not realize I had to use makedisk to install the user guide.
It is just what I was looking for. I owe you one.
