Please read this thread!

A fellow ATer has come upon very hard times and is in need of assistance. I know it seems almost everyone here has been in his shoes or may even be there now but I know of no better group of people than this TeAm!!

Tomorrow Huntress and I will be going on a Sam's Club food and diaper shopping spree with the idea that we will spend about $300 and then make the drive to Jason's house to deliver the items. We are willing to cover the initial cost of this and are hoping that maybe some of the funds already collected could be offered towards this. Of course the both of us are willing to donate some funds towards this too as part of our part.

AT for AT :)

This guy is only 49 miles away from me. Wish I was in a better financial situation when I hear about people in need :(. Hopefully he doesnt sell all of his computers. We just gave an old celery away to my sister-in-law because it was taking up space :(

The original thread was made in For Sale/Trade, must be regular spot for funboy6942 and there is a thread in OT. I asked if anyone has aked the Mods to lock any of the threads. At least until the emergency situation and crisis passes.

So here is what we did today for those that want to know. (read: Everyone)

Roadraider, Huntress, and myself met in Sam's club parking lot at about noon. As always, Roadrunner was late. (Inside joke :))
We spent about an hour inside Sams where we bought the needed esentials such as diapers, toiletries, real dinner food such as gound beef, Spagetti, spagetti sauce, pot roast, canned vegitables, fresh fegitables such as potatoes, apples, and such. We also bought some packs of Little Debbie snack bars and drink boxes for school lunches. The reciept was like 3 feet long :) Roadrunner was in awe of the 123 count packs of diapers. (huggies was actually the heapest brand, go fig)

After that, we stuffed it all into Huntress' Jimmy. We had to fold the seats down and pack it in so it would all fit :) Then we journied off to Indiana, by way of Ohio. Just kidding. We got a little lost because of all the closures on the Skyway, but we got to Jason's at about 3:30 IIRC.

The kids were out in a field having a grand old time, as kids are wont to do :). We talked to Jason and his wife, and brought in all the stuff. The look on their faces as the Jimmy was opened was priceless. You just had to be there as I brought in the cases of diapers. The look on Jason's face was priceless :)

We offloaded all the stuff and just talked for a few hours. About what was going on, and about other things. Jason has a cat that has extra paws, because 4 are not enough. Huntress got pics for AT of course :)

Just as we were leaving, the oldest came out and thanked us again, and gave us hugs. :)

This is what AT is about. Roadraider & Huntress did most of the work, be sure to thank them, as Jason & his wife has; about a million times :)

Evadman, Thats AWESOME!!!
But was any progress made on the van repairs, brakes/waterpump/etc... ?
Now that we have them fed and in dry daipers, lets keep em safe on the road!
PLease fill us in on the details about that, and if there is anything we can do to help on the transportation side.

We are working on that as well. Food first, transportation second :) If anyone happens to know of a friend or something who has front brakes (disks, hubs calipers), rear brakes (drumps, pads and most likely cyl's) or a waterpump for a 4.3 motor in a '88 Astro, let one of us know. We will likely just buy it all since it is reletively cheap.

Wow,

Just new to this story...

It is occasions such as this that makes me very proud to be a fellow AT member. The fact is that during my time spent here i have seen this sort of *get together of resources* for a fellow m8 in need happen not just once but countless times. It's nice to know that some people in this ever-increasingly impersonal world care.

I have some money i could paypal you Evadman if you would still be able to make use for it, such as for the car. :)

Ooops, yes, I meant "lock at the top" , you can certainly tell I'm no Mod.

BTW, I see a Thank You Note from the Funboy and family "STICKied" at the top of Off Topic, great job everyone. AT continues to be a shining example of the best in the Internet Global Community.

Special thanks go to Evadman, Roadraider and Huntress, awesome, awesome.
