OT: Switch Recommendations?

Cisco switches do seem to require a bit more tweaking to get them operating at peak condition as compared to some others I've worked with; still, I've only had one 3548XL die on me -- of course, it was under warranty, so not a real issue.

I have limited Cisco experience, the only one I have ever had died and could not be fixed. (The just returned it broken. :S)

Do any of you know of a site that does benchmarks on networking equipment? I may try and get one up and going if there is not a good site. I have a lot of middle range equipment to test, but not much high end though. :( (Middle range as in the price range, not quality. ;) )

How about one with a built in Firewall? I find software that residing inside the computer to be the stupidest thing software makers ever came up with. Putting the firewall inside the place ur trying to keep people out :p:roll:

When you are talking high end equipment you buy a separate device for filtering and firewall duties. ;)

networkstoday.com has a few

I say go for running your own tho :D

Sounds like a plan. :) Now I just need to get the equipment and figure out a way to really test this stuff out. ;)
