OT (sort of) trying to upgrade HDD in my main seti rig

I'm having trouble, I want to copy everything from my old, slow & small HDD to a newer, faster, bigger HDD.
I got a good deal on a WD drive & downloaded their tool for copying over the stuff from the old to the new.
Problem is this: I make the boot floppy but then when I try loading it it seems to stall out.
Says it's loading...

Is there a good, -free- tool out there for doing this?

Thanks!

A long time ago, I would use the WD data safeguart tools to back up HDs. It is EXTREMELY slow. I remember waiting for nearly 3 hours to do a 40 GB copy. I don't know If I had some other issue that I didn't know about or not, got my hands on a copy of Norton Ghost and it does the job in about 25 minutes for 80 GB drives. but I digress..... my point is that the WD utility can be very slow... are you sure it was hung?

Question: Did you format and partition your new drive yet? If so, the copy utility should work. Of coarse, its a Dos based program and since Dos can't read ntfs files, it may not work. But you may find some other help Here.

it actually seems like it doesn't get all the way through bootnig from the floppy, just hangs with the floppy drive led on.
I do have a ntfs volume on the old drive, and I use USB keyboard & mouse. THese might be problems for the WD utility.
I have ghost on a cd around here somewhere, but I can't find it. So much software, so little time...

I was just about to suggest GHOST but I see you are already searching for your copy.

Good luck.
