OT: So hot in herre!

So today there was a weird beeping sound coming from one of my systems. I check and find out that it's Motherboard Monitor and it's alerting me because the CPU temp is above 70 degrees Celsius. :Q:Q Is it safe to leave it crunching with these sort of temps? Oh yeah, it's a nice and roasty 90 degrees in Cali. 😎

We're having a bit of a mini heat wave here too(W Pa.) about 85- 90F. I turned off my comps today as it just too hot in the house if i leave them running.
What brand of CPU are you using? My AMD XP1800 is rated to 90C i believe but i'd never let it get near that.
Stock cooling here too.

It has been in the 90's here in Houston also.
I have my PC's in my bedroom and it is going to be nice during the Winter.
But until then..............:sun:

🙂

I hear ya, I have a Dual Ppro rig that screams bloody murder in this heat. I need more case fans though methinks.

LOL

"Central Air" in my house really means "Central ...except the game room" (2 comps in small room)

I had to lower my OCs a bit and put a small oscillating fan to move the hot air from this room into hallway where the "central" air can reach it!

I don't care though.... if I have to run my CPUs at 1Hz, I'll gladly pay that price for some summer (finally!)

It's 84F outside right now tonight in Indiana, and it was up to (or over, not sure) 90F today. Luckily, my computers sit underneath the window A/C (the only one in the house, unfortunately; we don't have central), so I'm not too worried about them. Needless to say, I haven't rebooted either system for well over a week (to get a peek at the health status display on the POST screen), and I don't have MBM installed, so I'm not exactly sure where they're at; ignorance is bliss, or so they say... 😉

Bah you Cali and Texas guys are wussies. It was 95 here in Michigan with a heat index over 100. No computers wigging out here.🙂

I love the summer heat and humidity, it has been up to around 95º acctual temp recently, unfortunantly the near future for my area is only going to be in the high 70s.
As for the temps in my rig, the processor is running about 52ºC and the system temp is around 33ºC. Not too bad concidering that our office only has a single vent that is on the opposite side of the room.

I miss my house...keeping the PCs in the basement was perfect.

As it is now...just the two dual XP1800+ in my living room keep the temp up about 5-10F   😉

It finally hit 90+ here today, I think. And humidity is starting to creep up. Can't believe how cool it's been this summer.

Well, if it makes you feel any better, it's the middle of winter in New Zealand... and my 1700+ was at 33 degrees load this morning. 😀

I would so trade it for a bit of summer, though.

Hmm nice cool 60°ish weather here in Alaska. But temps are rising. I hope we do not reach the 90's again. Last time I felt that, I though I was going to melt.

Well, in Houston on Wednesday, 6/25, it got to 96F actual degrees. The heat index
was 111F with the humidity. Yes, we DO know that assphalt has a liquid state!

hehe
😎

Yeh, thats right about the asphalt.
When it gets hotter in July you will be able to hear the asphalt singing as it tries to stick to your tires.
Last year the ants were invading the downtown skyscrapers trying to get away from the heat.

i would shut it down @ that temp.
or do what i do....get a box/oscillating fan and take the side of your case off, it looks really ghetto but...36 C full load.
probably 75-80 F ambient temp in my bedroom.

Its 95F here in Virginia. I had to drop 2 overclocks today due to them being locked when I got home from work 🙁 I definitely need to get another window air conditioner for my shed 😉

The weather man said 96 here in upstate NY. 😎

Wife said she had 98 on the car thermometer. :Q

All I remember was my clothes got instant wet and then there was nothing 😱

You tell 'em M2.............we go from 3' to 6' of snow to 10' of heat

And all the Texas guy's have to deal with are snakes and tumble weeds😛

edit: (or maybe an Armadillo or 2)

It's even hotter today, It seemed like 100F in SoCal. Shoot I'm afraid of smoking my system. I won't stop folding but let it runs only 70-80% for now. I set my high temp. alarm at 56C, luckily it reached only 54C and I got to it before the alarm came on.

Fans

Point a 24 inch box fan at the side of your open case.

Even 100F air moving past your cpu will cool it down, the key is to MOVE THAT AIR GENTLEMEN (and ladies)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
