Because of the seriousness of this vulnerablity, I felt it was necessary to post this.

This effects nearly every operating system, router, switch, cable or DSL modem, and firewall.


PROTOS SNMP is a tool designed by the University of Oulu of Linnanmaa to test for weaknesses in programming and other vulnerabilities. Well as you guessed it, the "bad" guys have it now and are using it.

This tool apparently exposes a weakness, then the malevolent "hackers" can develope their own tool to exploit the weakness.

Why? Because they can.

What do they get? Anything they want if they are successful.

(An expample) It's almost like talking about encryption. Its great to have it so the "Bad" guys can't see what your doing, but in turn they use it to cover their operations and avoid law enforcement. Is the NSA worried? You bet!!
