OT: Researchers at my alma mater develop new memory

Didn't know you were a "Cougar"! 😀

Thanks for the info, Crazee. 🙂

Sounds interesting, but i don't see (at the moment) how it could be able to "allow PC users to transfer and download large files - such as digital movies - in a few seconds, rather than hours"

I get the booting up much quicker by storing the OS on the RAM itself, but the downloading bit is still gonna take hours cos of the internet connection! :Q

/me is confused 😕

Confused

Yeah I thought the whole thing about downloading was kinda goofy since that really is much more connection dependent. I think the person who wrote the press release was more confused than anyone 😉

The key thing I see in it is possibility to replace hard drives with memory. That will remove one of the biggest bottlenecks in a PC system.

Crazee, I'm glad you finally cleared that up! With a name like that, I thought you might have been a football fan from Rice.

Are you still in Houston?

Yep I am still in Houston and my masters is from Rice so you could say I am a Rice Football fan 🙂
