OT: PNY 256MB + Norton OD deal - $15 rebate

Ok, I know a hell of a lot of you guys had a problem with these scamming PNY bastages sending you a card saying that you sent the wrong UPC. Well, I got my card BUT I KNOW I fricken sent the correct stuff. I sent this all out before people were posting these problems. All I have here is the number to the completely automated rebates department, and I also have the number to their fax line. I read that some ananders here called them and biotchd at them until they set things straight. What is this number?? I'm pissed as hell that these worthless sacks of crap at PNY are trying to say I sent the wrong UPC. Anyone else with this problem please post it here and how you dealt with it.

I just called the # on the postcard and they guy said read off the # thats printed on the top left corner. He said ok I have you down as a verified ofiice depot customer and you check will be there in 10-15 days. Then I got it.
The only problem is that its not a 800 number.

Problem is that my card has only an 800 number that goes to a COMPLETELY automated system, I've tried EVERY choice possible.

It seems that PNY has edited off the help number in the past month because people were calling and actually getting their checks after b1tchin a bit..................they're just trying to keep all the money for themselves :|

I NEED the number that gets me to a customer service agent!! The 866-856 blah blah number is useless they've made it completely automated!

I used the 866-856-3966 number as well and it gets you to an automated system. However, instead of pushing any of the numbers that the automated system gives you, press 0 and you get transferred to a customer service representative. Think outside the box. 😀

Also, I'm not sure if PNY is at fault or if Office Depot is at fault, but if you look at the UPC you physically cut out of the packaging and the UPC code that shows up on the rebate receipt, they are not the same - they are offset a bit (a 0 is added on the left and the last digit of the UPC is cut off), so that may be why the rebates are being rejected because technically, they don't match. When you talk to the CSR, just tell them you did mail the UPC and the rebate together and read them the UPC number from the photocopy of the UPC that you hopefully made. They will tell you they will push the rebate through for you as a one-time courtesy blah blah.

I could not get through the phonemail maze to speak to a real person either.
I faxed them a copy of the postcard, added text stating that there was a big mistake
on their part, everyone was getting rejected, please send me my rebate, etc.

Got my check about 1 week later.

I got my check a couple or more weeks ago....But to answer you question about what I did to resovle the problem, I did the following. Called them up and spoke to a live person...told the girl what was wrong and then she asked me what the UPC was of the product I sent in. I just gave her the one right off the rebate form. It turns out that they had an error in their datebase that was fixed....but not every rebate that was sent it was caught. If you were to call them up, I am sure that they would take care of it. They seemed very responsive to the situation.

I got the same hassle, called them, and got the rebate almost immediately.

I also noticed that the NAV 2002 included with the RAM was not the full version (it's the OEM, 90-day registration version). So I called OD Customer Service (1-800-GODEPOT), complained (it was not disclosed anywhere, except on these forums!, that the enclosed version was not the full). They immediately shipped me a full version for free, to supplement my OEM version.

Great deal on RAM, btw, given current prices...

Thanks for the reply, I had to go through 3 different menus while pressing 0 constantly before it let me speak to a customer rep :disgust:

Talk about sleazy..........the guy on the phone, by his voice, made it QUITE clear that he was aware of this problem, and mumbled a few "sorry for this error........." statements. Said that they put my name in the system for a purchase of a different item *cough*bullsh|z* and that he corrected it and I will be getting my check in the mail in a few weeks.

Thanks again everyone! I hope this thread helps anyone else who gets this postcard soon.

pny historic~~~y slow and non existant when it comes to rebates.
i think they always have an error in their database. they might not be the worst, but they are very close. you can always ask od to contact them for you.

I'm on the phone with them now, they're just giving me the runaround :|

They say its an upgrade..........duh the RAM is an upgrade, I wanted the full version of norton antivirus and all I get is this crummy 90 day trial thing and the guy is giving me the runaround.

EDIT: Ok this "manager" is quite weak in the knees, very little in knowledge and much less endurance. He is quite passive, and after drilling him for a good half-hour he's given up and placed my order for NAV 2002.

I had the same problem. I called Office Depot customer service and they immediately issued me a check with no additional hassles.

I just got my rebate today. I called the number from the thread after I got the post card that said I submited the wrong UPC and spoke to someone. I pointed out that the cash register printed out the rebate form when the UPC was scanned, so it had to be the correct UPC. She agreed and said I would get the check. And it was in todays mail.

I guess I was lucky. I got this $15 rebate faster than just about every rebate except for Microsoft, who are the kings of speedy rebates.
