Smokeball you may be interested in this Lindows concept. It appears to have got past the vapourware stage and it has already been sued by Microsoft so they seem to think it might be ok.

Well, if these drastic price cuts really happen, I'll be sure to buy new cpus for my dual p3 -> dual XP upgrade, as opposed to used ones. It'll support the company, and the CPU's will probably live longer.

Of course, I have one bit of advice for AMD if they want to become the king of semiconductors: bring back the friggin' InterWave!!! That thing ROCKED!!!

Hi Mech, Tom, I did post this in the CPU forum as well and they kept the discussion on the up and up there as well, nice to see. Everyone seems to realize this is serious business. No one is trashing either camp. Both products are awesome power we could not have imagined to be possible in such a short span of years.

Yield, it looks like AMD may already be reacting to Intel's new pricing then. The new price point for the Intel 2.2 P4 will be $241.

I just hope AMD does not become another Hayes Modems, I worked there and they priced the modems right out of business, we couldn't send them down the line to be built for less than what they were selling for.
