Just landed one today, start tommorrow morning @ 8:00am :D

Still gunna be homeless for a while unfortunately. Right now I am trying to see if there is any kind of public assistance to pay for the first months rent on another apartment or house so I do not lose this job for a shelterless reason. I do not have time to do it tommorrow as I will be @ work during the time the office is open and I still have yet to find out my schedule.
Anyway I hope to continue crunching away for the TeAm, even though it will be slow for a while :(.

Thanks for all the encouragement everyone :), your high spirits kept me hopeful this entire time even though things looked so down.

Congratulations Sinful! It could not have gone to a more worthy persn. Is there any way you could give the address of a local homeless shelter/aid station? What about any friends in the area that you could provide with their address or a family figure?
It would be horrendous for you to lose your job b/c of the fact that you are homeless DUE TO A LACK of a job! Sadly, these type of injustices are prevalant and just keep those that have lost a home on the streets.

You have many G'luck wishes from me & the rest of Anandtech I'm sure and just let us know if we can do anything (paypal money/supplies, anything) :)

Keep us posted!

Please let us know if there is something we can do to help. I wouldn't mind paypalling something over to help tide you over until the paychecks start coming in.

Congrats on the new job! :D

Too bad you're not in Michigan as I could offer you a room while you get back on your feet; if your location changes, let me know. :)

Congrats on finding a new job! :)

Glad to hear about the job :)

I sure hope that you can find somewhere to stay so you can get the job.

Shame all these Catch 22's are everywhere :(

Unfortunatly there is no homeless shelter in my town short of a temporary woman's shelter for beaten/neglected women (being male I obviously can not go there :p). The homeless shealter closed down many years ago... the reason as to why is eluding me at the moment.
So my best option is for the states General Assistance program. I have never used it in my life or any other kind of assistance. From my understanding they pay the first's months rent for people whom just acquired a job, but I do not know this for a fact. I also do not know the procedure or how long it takes. But if possible, day after tommorrow or on my first day off I intend to find out.
For friends and family, I have lots of both. None are able to help financially with winter heating bills kicking in (Alaska winters), but are willing to give shelter. My problem with that is they all have cats. I am terribly allergic to them as well as some dogs (medications in the past did not help).

So that eliminates all but three options. 1. I live out @ my mothers cabin. Which is not a wise idea being so far out of town. I could be late for work and/or miss work. Not such a wise idea this early in the job. 2. I stay at my only friends house who has no cats/dogs. The problem within there is with 4 kids and only one worker in the family, they stay in a low-income state/native corperation funded apartment building. If they (the agencies) catch word that I am staying there. My friends either lose their apartment or get their rent increased perminately to over 2K/month. That option is ethically wrong for me to take. The last thing is to do is ask around, I am sure one of my freinds or family has other friends or relatives that can accomodate me for a little while. It might take me a few days, but eventually something has to come up.

I informed the person who hired me of the situation I am in. She was understanding but made it clear to show up for work in decent working order otherwise she will not be able to keep me in the workforce.

Overkiller, Crazee, & networkman. Thanks very much for the generous offers :) While I do have a paypal account. I do not have a banking account. So paypal would be 'vaporware' to me at the moment since I can not get the funding. And being in Alaska, sending stuff for me would be not be cost effective for you to do.
Changing a word in networkman's signature quoteing Seven. "Chance is irrelevant, I will succeed". It might be difficult, but I will find a way :).

Anyhow I have to log off right now. I am using someone elses WET11 for internet connection at the moment. They need to their stuff also.

Congrats!

That didn't take too long compared to others out there (even myself :( ) but being w/o a job and esp. w/o a place to stay is tough!

Good luck w/the new job and the home hunting!
