Hi,

I'm setting up a server here at home which will be eventually connected to the i-net.
But right now it's setup without i-net connection because I'm still in the testing phase.
The computer it's connected to is equipped with a normal 100mbit NIC and a WiFi card. The internet
connection for that pc is going throug the WiFi card, but when I connect the server (or any other pc)
to the normal Nic, it tries to connect to the internet through that card instead of the WiFi, causing my pc
to get disconnected to the i-net... Is there any way (running Windows XP by the way..) to make sure that
the i-net traffic is forced through the WiFi card?
Hopefully someone can help me..

Go into network connections and disable the internet connection on the ethernet nic.

Sorry, just a reply BUMP..i do not know if this is what you desire.

Do you need the ethernet nic connection to be enabled for other pcs or do u just want the wifi?

Hope i've been of *some* service :)

It seems to me what you are trying to accomplish is to turn that machine in an Internet Gateway machine, correct? There are a number of different ways to accomplish this depending upon the OS on the gateway machine.

Can you provide any more information about your OS, configuration, etc?

Actually I don't need to set it up as a gateway, I only want to use both networks at the same time.
- I want to be able to connect to the server through the normal NIC
- And at the same time connect to the i-net through the WiFi card.

Like Overkiller said, that's what I'm doing right now but on my system are some programs running which need
a constant connection to the i-net so this isn't the best solution ;)
When working on my server I need to search for 'howto's' on the i-net which is impossible with the current
situation.. So when I can force the i-net through the WiFi all is good :)

Configuration:
Intel 100mbit nic (Pro 100/VM)
Linksys 54mbit WiFi (wmp54G) (i-net)

Thanks for the help!!

would it work to bridge the connections together? this would let the server act as a bridge for the two networks. It won't do DHCP all it would do is "combine" the two networks. This will only work if you have a router on the wi-fi end.

To do this go to network connections select both cards, right click and select bridge connections. WinXP will do the rest.

The other option is to use ICS. It will bridge the connections and take care of DHCP to the second network. This way works best if you don't have a router. This can be set up in network settings as well.
