Hi TAS- and TA-mates.

Our neighborhood is experienceing some severe trouble with the internet connection since approximately 48 hours: the fibre-cable and the POTS-line have been damaged (building activity) and we have no date for repairs.

I have litteralty hundreds of WUs to deliver, some with short deadlines (MalariaControl), others with longer ...

Anyhow, I just wanted you to know that I myself, the kids and home are well, healthy and in a good mood, but no way to communicate ... except when I am at the local Internet Café.

OK, I am somewhat less than truthfull: I am not in a good mood - this lack of internet connection makes my grumpy, frustrated, angry and generally p.... ff. At least just now3. :( ;) :D

The fible is up again - but only for half of the houses: we are switching every three hours: half of the households are on for the period, half is off, then it chnages back ... ;)

Too bad you can't save all of the finished WUs to a external hd, and then upload them at the cafe. hehehehe

With my machine still in storage, I've been doing everything on my laptop. And it's annoying, because anytime a train goes by, the wireless internet drops out. And there are a lot of trains that go by here. :( Oh well though. I'm crunching as much as I can. Mwa ha ha...

YAY!! That's awesome. And now if I can just get someone to help me move the computer from storage to here, I'll be alright... :D

I got three new comps online for DC last night:
1. Mac G4, originally single CPU @ 867 MHz, now dual G4 CPU @ 1300 MHz
2. Mac G4, originally single CPU @ 400 MHz, now single G4 CPU @ 1800 MHz
3. AMD A64 3200+ now at a 10% OC (now running @ 2200 MHz), but soon going to go even higher ...

My oldest asked - when she came home @ midnight from a rock concert and saw me cleaning and refurbishing these comps - "what is going on? Are you now getting into m,ass producing computers?" :D ;)

The Macs are awsome with seti@home (using an application optimised for the Altivec-enabled FPU) and with Einstein@home - quite efficient with rosetta too, but seti and Einsten just shine!

The Macs are quite easy to upgrade mechanically, but noy so easy software-wise: often you need to update the firmware at least once, often in two or three steps - which is scary sometimes: if anything goes wrong (e.g. you pick the wrong update) you can not go back!
;) bad Apple! ;)

Edit:: spelling and added last paragraph.
