Got an email from someone who got my email from heatware, just a heads up to all the AT peeps who might get this.
Site looks brand new, never heard of it...not such a good way to advertise this in my opinion.. :(

The guy posted the site here this morning. I think the guy that posted was actually the guy running the site.

He really seems to lack tact, to put it nicely.

Me...

Same here. It would be nice if e-mail addresses were only displayed when leaving an evaluation.

I recall seeing his spam thread earlier, and his username is shizox.

I think this is actually a good idea (not the mass email, but the item-centric listing of things for sale).

Since most users now don't have the capability to do full-text searches (which hurts the sellers even more, since they can be subscribed for the next fifty years, if they don't have descriptive thread titles, they're not going to sell anything), it's difficult to track down specific items. By having categories and one-item-one-listing policy, it's much easier to find what you want.

Everyone should go register and leave him a message on his board. :)

that's pretty immature silver..I saw your post before and after you edited it..I don't mind ONE extra spam mail in my mailbox if it is something that could help me..it's pretty damn hard to start a successful message board nowadays with the millions out there, and this guy is just trying to get people that WANT to join..he's not forcing you or signing you up for gay spam mail or something. I knew that heatware listing e-mails would lead to something like this(spam signup or whatever), but if I saw this coming last year I would be happy..I enjoy finding new sites and helping them out. If you don't want to find a new site to browse, just delete the e-mail like the hundreds of others that most of us do.

oh yeah, he probably used heatware because his target was to attract people who buy/sell/trade and that's what heatware is for..not sure why you didn't see that..

I think it's funny as hell and I hope everyone does it. He's a low life spammer.
BTW, I got the screenshot before he deleted it.

Yes agreed, it was childish. I hate spam, and I hate the low-lifes that do it.
I know perfectly well why he used Heatware, thank you very much. Thats what pisses me off more.
All spammers can cry "There are so many millions of other sites just like mine, I have to do all that I can to make mine seen"
Blah Blah Blah...... Its all spam in the end, and spam is trash.

well, I think whoever does it is extremely childish.
I don't see everyone whining and complaining about all the spam mail they get..so what's so different about this one?
He "stole" your public e-mail address from heatware? Well, that's too bad..you got one e-mail you didn't want, that just happens to be about something that could interest you. better start spamming his message boards and whining about it!

but arguing about it is pointless...perhaps heatware needs to do something to stop this, otherwise it won't stop

I emailed you the screenshot for posterity. :)

Heat is also aware of what happened and is looking into it.

Guys,

I would like to apologize to everyone for what I have done. It was wrong and I really feel bad now that I have done it. If you don?t like the site please delete my email and don?t go there. Sending couple of emails to people that didn?t want to receive one is unprofessional and stupid. I did it just to see if anybody was interested in the site.

All I can say now is that I?m sorry and promise it will never happen again.

Regards,
Wojo.

I accept, dude. Not sure the best way to get the word out, but spam isn't received well...

Good luck - I may check out your site based on your apology.

Way to go, wojo.

Tough to have to swallow pride this early in the game.

I wish you the best (I registered BTW).

As I said in my e-mail to you: work with heat... don't compete!

Hey, I'm a poet! ;)

I don't care if you are starting up a new site. I don't care if some of you (Furor) feel one more piece of spam is accceptable. The bottom line is that is was unsolicited and we all already receive too much of it. I should report you to your service provider and see how they feel about your spamming.

While I was talking with Heat about this problem this afternoon, I thought about hollering to this guy's ISP, or at least to ATT Worldnet where the e-mail came from. I even suggested such to Heat. At any rate, I hope this guy truly learned his lesson and that no one else tries a similar, dumb trick.

I must admit that I don't really mind some spam, provided that it's easy to get your e-mail removed from their lists. It's the ones that pound you with spams that have forged headers, "remove me" links that in fact say to the servers "send me more," and the things that have you replying to nonexistant addresses. Fortunately, most of my spam e-mail is confined to an address different than my main one.:)

That's a BAD idea... because over 1/2 the time when someone gives me their evals, I check the email address to make sure it's really them... and I send paypal to THAT email address in their heat account.
