OT: March Madness!

Greatest sporting event there is! I love the first two days of the tournament where it's truly David vs. Goliath in many of the games. 🙂

Speaking of Kent State, this group of kids could be the best team ever to play in the MAC. 27-5 and 17-1 in the conference. They're riding a 19 game winning streak and just might have deserved a higher seeding than 10 so picking them was a pretty good bet.
 
I must admit I haven't followed the tournament selection and team performance history that closely (since I knew we weren't going to be in the BIG dance...we're just in the Junior Prom 🙂 )

I sure hope you're right, but that may be a stretch! They'll have to play better than they did in the second half today against Oklahoma State, but it seemed that they were able to make the big defensive plays when they needed to. They've got some good ball handlers who can score but their defense is what's gotten them where they are.

I love these guys, not just because they're a fine basketball team, but because they're good kids, too. Andrew Mitchell will graduate this year with a double major in criminal justice and political science. Demetric Shaw will be Dr. Shaw a few years down the road. He's an honor student with majors in bio-chemistry and pre-medicine.

Kent State's a stone's throw from here so they've gotten a lot of coverage in the local press. It's great to see good kids do well on the big stage.
 
I'm 7 for 8 right now but it wasn't Kent St. that messed me up it was Tulsa. I didn't look up anything on any of the teams this year I just predicted the first round in about 2 minutes with no real thinking. Maybe tonight I'll fill out the rest of the rounds but I think I'll take it step by step for a change.

BTW I'm a big Hoosiers fan. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that Jared Jeffries will be 100%.
 
How could you pick a team like Duke?
They are almost given a bye in each round, so I kind of understand it.
Lopsided is the only way to describe it this year.

I'm praying for a healthy Jeffries as well. I have a feeling that Coverdale and Fife are going to have a strong game tonight. 🙂

Also, USC is losing as we speak! If we can get past Utah, that could make a trip to the Sweet 16 much easier! 🙂

Of course, that would then mean a showdown with Duke (who I don't have winning it all). Hey, if you want to be the best, you gotta beat the best! 😉

If Indiana wins tonight I will be wearing my IU tie to church on Sunday. Oh heck I'll even wear it if they lose.🙂

I also had picked the Zags to beat Wyoming so that is loss #2. Talk about a surprise!:Q

That was a pretty good overtime, I was on the edge of my seat. So that is another one I got wrong, and I am now standing at 9-3. I'm hoping for one more upset today as I have Western Kentucky picked to beat Stanford although I'm not sure what I was thinking and it isn't looking good.🙂

BTW I am posting a lot so that I can hit Platinum tonight.😉
