OT: Linux Question

MDE

Lifer
I have Fedora Core 3 installed on my laptop now and I was wondering how I could check the CPU speed. Even running Folding@Home the fan doesn't stay on constantly like it did in Windows.

I don't know how to check the CPU speed, but if you open a Terminal Command Line window and type in the
'top' command, you will see how much CPU % the F@H is using. It updates every 3 seconds or so. Just type the
letter 'q' to quit.

This is pretty basic stuff that you probably know, but I just thought I would try to help...

 for you !!!

P.S. How the Heck have you been???

It uses 100% (top was the first thing I checked 😛).

I've been pretty good. Nothing bad, nothing great 🙂

You mean "cat /proc/cpuinfo"?

I'm not normally a speeling nazi, but I don't want any Linux newbie confusion.

Yep, good catch. When it comes to technical stuff like this, I don't think of being corrected as a bad thing. 🙂

cat/proc/cpuinfo doesn't work on my RedHat8.0 system.
Should I be in a particular directory?

Linux is g00d!

It's "cat /proc/cpuinfo" Don't forget that space!

Alright, it shows my CPU at 800MHz while running F@H. How do I get PowerNow working properly so I can get it up to 1.8? I found this program but have no idea how to use it.
