OT: Last Day of Subscription

Well, today is the last day of my AT subscription. 🙁 I've been a subscriber for 18 months and have totally forgotten what it's like to see ads on these pages. Is it really that bad with all the ads? I hope they change their minds about subscribing. I was very happy to hand them my money to be able to surf AT ad-free. Bastages! 🙁
 
I've never known anything but the ads and I don't notice them any more 😀

Yeah, the ads no longer bother me, but the search function is terrible. 🙁

And I keep hitting that 100 PM limit...... 🙁

If they aren't going to let subscribers re-up, they should at least give everyone the full search function and up their PM limit.
 
Searches titles only... pretty useless for the FS/FT thread unless people start listing everything in the title.... maybe we should suggest that! 😉

You are not going to like doing "searches".
I can live with ads or block them. But I really miss the full search.


Had it for 2 years. It was the best money I spent online!

O' well if it's bad it happens, if it's good it goes away.....

My sub ran out a while back and until then I was unaware we were not able to resub. I was using Mozilla and a script that removed the ads but on day I found that Mozilla hogged 99% of my CPU for an entire day (and I lost SETI production as a result). Bye bye Mozilla. I went back to using IE6 and I don't even pay attention to the ads. I give them the "Family Circus treatment" just like when reading the comics so I don't accidentally read them. In fact, I just had to check to see if they were still there.

The non-sub search feature pretty much sucks but I've learned to look elsewhere (Google) when I need info and can't find it here. Sort of defeats the purpose though, dontcha think? MY BIGGEST COMPLAINT IS THE WORTHLESS DEALFINDER AD ON THE LEFT SIDE TAKING UP LIKE 15% OF THE SCREENSPACE DOWN THE ENTIRE PAGE!!!!!!!! Any guess which DealFinder I'll *NEVER* use?
 
I'm not sure what the deal is about the ads. I see 2 ads at the very top, and they are small. One is for AMD and the other is for Mushkin. I'm pretty sure I've seen other ads here, but it's not like they are popups or intrusive in any way.
 
Wait till they start running You are a winner Flashing and annoying ad that one really bites. I dunno, I started off here on Hot Deals. And BEING cheap I figured it was not a very good HOT DEAL to subscribe. Tho if anadtech was down in a ditch I'd donate $$ to them via pay pal becuase I like it...

One other thing the Search isn't that deep you can only search abour 4 pages once the message is gone... or rolls off the bufferd non subscribers it's GONE...

Another thing when someone links posts to other posts in here you can't view them for some reason. Don't really know some limitation. Dunno what other features it has. Maybe it's faster too?

I ignor the ads. and it seems just as fast on cable most of the time as any other site. I usually don't go digging around in forsale boards, and I have no use going more the 3-4 pages deep any way since why re-read old crap kind of an advantage to me anyway! 🙂

I have a tiny DealFinder box, because I don't have the know-how to code a .css file or proxomitron filter to get rid of it. Nothing else shows up, though, and it doesn't really bother me 🙂

It's peculiar that they're not taking re-subscriptions. Has anyone ever mentioned the reasons for it?

There was a thread over in Forum Issues about the subscriptions going away. Another thread over there about the ads contained a post about how to eliminate the ads as well as a link to a .css file you could download and use with Mozilla to do it. I tried it out and it did work. If you can't find the .css link over in that thread PM me and I'll Email it to you. For the life of me I can't remember how to actually use it though. I think it involved copying that .css file over another .css file or putting it in a certain directory. 😕

Follow the destructions at the top to find your current userContent.css file, and open that. I would then copy/paste bits of this linked one into your existing userContent.css file.

BTW, will it works with MyIE2 [based on IE6] ?
 
Giddyup! Any scripts out there that do something about the god awful search options? 🙂 What a disappointment the search is now. Bastages!!! Give me back my subscription!!!!
