OT: laptop password

My ex has a toshiba equium m50-244 laptop.
One of her 'friends' has added a password to the bios and now she can't use it.
Does anyone know of a way to clear it? I know on my pc's I can short out a connector to reset the bios but can this be done on a laptop?

Has this "friend" been contacted? At least by the fast moving end of a stick?

Laptops have extra security, because they are so portable.
If you google the make & model with terms like "reset password" you will see what I mean.

It's what I epected:

There is little that you can do if you have forgotten your BIOS password. The only effective way of resetting it is to take the unit to your nearest Authorised Service Partner who will have the necessary equipment to re-flash your BIOS chip. They will usually need you to prove your owner-ship of the notebook before they will do so.

You may find various utilities listed on some web-sites and also some means of by-passing the BIOS password but these are by no means guaranteed to work on more modern notebooks.

He's buggered off back to England, unfortunately 🙁
I had a feeling it wouldn't be that easy to do!
Oh well, thanks for the help :
