I don't think its too much of a stretch to believe that anyone trading on the forums hasn't at least once had to return a hard drive for warranty evchange. When that happens i ususally hang onto the box in case of a future return or sale. Heck, even a retail (non-WD) HD package would give a ton better protection that a lamp box and tissue paper.

Just my 2¢

Definately return it IMO. A hard drive should be VERY well packed and totally secure....the package should be firm and the hard drive should be basically locked in. Reminds me of an old story in the FS forums here about a guy that shipped a hdd in an envelope, lol.

I sent the hdd back, packaged in a psu box wrapped and double taped in two sets of bubblewrap and the foam from the original box.

I added 5.00 to his shipped price and got parcel post and dc fior 5.04 when he shipped.

I paid 7.50 for insurance (40.00) and dc and he will get it today or tommorow.

you could shake the hell out of that box now and never hear a rattle, I would also expect that it could be dropped from 10' without damage.

I paid shipping both ways, I am out 12.50 usd, but the peace of mind is worth it.

I got 2 dvd's yesterday that were bubble wrapped, taped very well, and packaged better (no rattles) than the hdd.

I should have made him pay, but I am hoping if he continues to trade here he will step up to the standards set before him.

I also told him I would leave positive heat for refunding my money as agreed.

I will make note that he packaged poorly, and that he was slow in offering a refund.

I pm'd a buyer that is still waiting on his hdd's to ship (8 days) and let him see the pics.

he paid half down and was to pay the orther half upon reciept of the drives.

LOL its a mouseover, no click needed. I take it you like miss moons lol

dang, I just heard from another person buying from this seller:

I received the drives.1 was dead other is going through ubcd diagnostics now.
The box wasn't as bad as your's.Both drives were in 1 static bag wrapped together with thin foam and paper surrounding them. Both ide slots had the plastic broke and the 2 outside pins on both drives were bent.
Looks like these came from a salvage operation. I will let you know what else comes about.
