OT: I may be going home early today - guess not

😀 for me but it really sucks for those involved.

I work about a block away from the "accident site". Boy talk about a ton of sirens. Scared the crap out of me.

Dasm... nasty stuff. Glad you're OK CAD. 🙂

You really should take the day off, in fact a couple of 'em. You'll need to regroup and gather your strength.
They should spring for a round of Golf or two as well, don't you think?

Why can't I have a boss that thinks like DanC? 😛

Anyway I don't think there is any real danger anymore - I saw a hazmat truck leave (atleast one of them) so I have to stay at work 🙁

Radio was saying that a trench collapsed but the TV sites are still sticking with their "gas exposure" story. I'm sure I'll find out by the end of the day/night.

/me sends a prayer out for the families that will be affected by this accident.

Dasm. Very bad stuff. 🙁

I agree with Danc, several days off should be necessary. 😉

I was working construction back in my HS and early college days, and one time in St. Joe, Mo. a company had a major chlorine gas leak slightly less than half a block down the street from where I was working. It about knocked us for a loop, I couldn't imagine being inside the building when it happened. :Q

We had to go into underground vaults, and we always used the required ventilation to clear out the vault before going down in. It only takes seconds to be overcome, and with some gases you will not know until it's too late. This one looks like it was just a freak accident that they hit a sewer line that released the gas into their trench. 🙁

Ha - watched a news clip. They said 2 blocks were evacuated....well...I'm pretty sure my building is within 2 blocks ( I can see the Budweiser Distributer building that this happened at from my window) so I'm not so sure they have ALL the info quite yet 😉

Oh well - that is the sensationalistic media for you
