OT : How many icons do you have in your system tray?

On the laptop, there's 8:
Power monitor
NAV
PC Card control
VOlume Control
Touchpad properties
External drive contol
Zonealarm
SETI Driver

I'd use SETIQueue, but 2 things keep me from doing so: 1, I can't get it to work; have a thread on that. 2, when it is running, the laptop freezes when I try to put it in standby mode.

My main PC has maybe 7 icons. I'm doing this from memory now:
Resolution control
NAV
Volume Control
Green SETI Icon
Zonealarm
and some others I can't remember right away.

4 (or 5) showing, 15 in total :Q

Showing:
SetiWatch
MSN
MBM5
Winamp
(Outlook Express - when i got email)

Hidden (Thanks WinXP 🙂):
Internet connection status on server
ZoneAlarm Pro
Volume Control
NVMax
ActiveSync
NAV
Yahoo Messenger
Morpheus
WinTV Remote Controller
InterVideo WinCinema Manager

Always 4 (sometimes 5- dns2go).

Norton Email Auto Protect
Volume control
SetiDriver
SetiQ
(DNS2Go- When I'm away and want to see my clients, I enable it) I don't always leave it running- it takes ~5% of my memory resources.

I guess I'm surprised how many people are running zone alarm!! It's a memory HOG! I've found it takes 8-10% of resources. My Norton used to take only 3-4% (Internet Security, Anti-Virus, Utilities, System Works) I just got a router to get rid of all the Norton stuff except Email Auto-protect.

6

Volume
2x F-Secure Antivirus
F-Secure Backweb
MBM 5
That cute little cow that other also have been infested with 🙂

I always have the following 12:

CD Player
SETI Driver
Logitech Cordless Mouse
Logitech Cordless Keyboard (I wouldn't do without either of these)
Volume Control
WinSize (from PC Magazine) - useful for developers
Second Nature Image Manager - wallpaper and screen saver manager
Neko
Task Manager
CD-R
Right FAX
System Resource Monitor

When they need attention, I also get
Outlook New Mail - when I have some - this should probably be on the list above.
Brother Printer Manager
Anti-Virus
Dial Up Networking

Varies according to whats up and running but usually 8-10

Always there:
Volume
CD
SetiDriver
SetiQ
Lan-Mail
NAV
Lan Connection

Usually there:
DUN
Matrox Quick Desk
Outlook Express trying to get my attention

<anyone know how i can disable the first 2?>

In Creative >options, there's a setting to show it in the tray, just uncheck it!

Unplug/eject, should go away if nothing isplugged to the firewire port! at least mine disapears when I unplug my DV camera. Maybe someone else asanother answer for this!

I'm supposed to have 5;

Zonealarm,
SETI driver,
MBProbe,
NAV,
and Popup Ad Filter

but Zone all of a sudden decided that it didn't want to continue loading at startup....

I have between 6 and 9:

Task Scheduler
Language Selector
Volume
Monitor control
WebWasher
ECCP Client

and when online:

ZoneAlarm
Netscape mail notification
Dial-up networking

My Sound Icon and the W2K network connected icon.... what else do you need? 😀 cant think about the rest of the fleet... 😛
Teriba.... "MySQLAdmin", thats what Webmin is for.. 😉

SHUX

5: the cow, logitech mouseware, NAV, Internet security, and sometimes winmx. At home I only have three: the cow, mouseware, and the hercules 3d oc proggie. I like to keep it clean 🙂

Only 3 here:

NAV Corp Ed
SETI driver
Kazaa

I hate having too many things down there. Looks too cluttered. 🙂

I hate having cluttered System Trays, that's why i love the hiding inactive icons feature of WinXP 🙂

As for running ZAP, i never see any performance hit, or it even running at 1% CPU usage, even when there's a lot of network activity!
