OT: Hot Deals Forums Slow?

I have been a long time user of Anandtech hot deals forum, has anyone else noticed the horrible performance in the last month of the forums? It takes a LONG time to load the hot deals forum, as well as the individual posts. Is this to get us to switch to the pay service? I am on a broadband connection, so it is not dialup issues.

Anyway, I find myself using F*twallet hot deals forum more and more as a result....

Just wondering...

yeah, slower, sometimes the page doesn't load up right (bunch of html/data garbage on the screen)...guess I should chalk up some cash & subscribe, eh?

Yea, this belongs in Off Topic....

Subscriber servers are blazingly fast...

So slow and so annoying that I am reading here less and less... I fact, when I do read here, I get pissed at the slow loads and go to one of the other sites straight off. I also have a cable modem and it's still slow. I think it is a way to get people to subscribe, but I haven't substained that level of brain damage just yet.

I would love to search for past messages, like I used to, however i don't have the 10 minutes to spare to do that right now...

Thanks ever so much for providing that link for me to read.

Take me more than 2 minutes to just to view this thread. I am on cable, this is the slowest web site I have ever seen.

Don't think it is normal, since I believe msn.com, yahoo.com, aol.com get much more users than Anandtech.com, and they are way faster to load than here. If it keeps getting slower, I have to think if this is a man-made situation.

Don't think it is a hardware restriction, since Anandtech posted this on their front page articles "Behind AnandTech - 2002 Server Upgrade - Apr 1st, 2002 11:00 PM" last week:

"With this upgrade we've moved to a set of servers that offers a performance density never previously seen in the enterprise market."

Or maybe it is just an April 1st joke. :disgust:
