OK, I know this is way OT, but I need advice.

It looks like somebody has hi-jacked my e-b account. :| I just received an email that I won an auction on e-b I did not bid on. In fact, it's probably been at least three years since I bid on anything on e-b and I only ever bid on one item ever, and that was an old family Bible that somebody had picked up at a garage sale. I have just changed my e-b password.

I've sent email to e-b notifying them. I've received an email from the seller who thinks I just bought his $1,100 item. :Q I haven't responded to him, yet. Should I, or should I wait to hear from somebody at e-b?

I'm going to have to go everywhere I've used that password and change it... :disgust: :|

Be wary, this could be bait for a scam in itself. What's the item/auction, care to post a link to it?

First off, I would make sure not to use any supposed EB@y email addresses found within the email you got, in case it was some kind of scam. Presumably you went to EB@y's site instead for that purpose? Account-theft info

I went directly to e-b and sent email to the Trust and Safety department using their on-line form.

This doesn't appear to be a scam. My eb history does show that I won the bid for this item. Should I notify the seller?

Good question. I think I'd wait to hear back from EB, at least until mid-Monday or so.

As long as you had contacted Ebay right away about this, you shouldn't have any problems. If the seller contacts you, just explain what happened and that you contacted EB about the problem. And we can only hope that the seller understands.

Good luck...
