I picked one up for $250 + tax. Did a little web research and found a $50 rebate valid on the BestBuy deal. $200 + tax on a DVC was a HOT deal!

this is WHY I got one. 199 is a steal!

A clerk at BB told me that this rebate is also available at the Panasonic web site. That's what I am sending in so that my GS31 ends up as $199 .... sah-WEET! I also picked up the JVC 6-pack of tapes for $25 -$10 MIR, and a SanDisk Ultra 512MB SD card for $30 -$10 MIR.

I was gonna jump on this deal at Circuit City, but everyone told me that the video was always grainy and that it was not that good in low light. Now that I look back...it's $199...what the hell was I expecting for $199?

Great - thank you for reminding me. I had saw this rebate on several websites while researching this camera, but I just never thought about applying it to Best Buy's deal. That $50 oughta cover nicely the extra battery and mini-dv tapes.
