OT: "Eastbound and down, loaded up and truckin'...

...Ah we gonna do what they say can't be done
We've got a long way to go, and a short time to get there
I'm eastbound, just watch old Bandit run

Keep your foot hard on the pedal
Son, never mind them brakes
Let it all hang out cause we got a run to make
The boys are thirsty in Atlanta
and there's beer in Texarkana
We'll bring it back no matter what it takes

Eastbound and down, loaded up and truckin'
Ah we gonna do what they say can't be done
We've got a long way to go, and a short time to get there
I'm eastbound, just watch old Bandit run

Eastbound and down, loaded up and truckin'
Ah we gonna do what they say can't be done
We've got a long way to go, and a short time to get there
I'm eastbound, just watch old Bandit run

Old Smokey's got them ears on
He's hot on your trail
And he ain't gonna rest 'til you're in jail
So you've got to dodge him, you've got to duck him
You gotta keep that diesel truckin'
Just put that hammer down and give it hell

Eastbound and down, loaded up and truckin'
Ah we gonna do what they say can't be done
We've got a long way to go, and a short time to get there
I'm eastbound, just watch old Bandit run

Ok, I know some of you may be wondering what this is all about. Well I got my Class A Drivers License yesterday. And well, this song just fits me like a glove now. 😀

Actualy, If I end up driving OTR, I might just have to stop by and say hi to a few of you. 🙂 I will keep you all informed on that later. As for right now, I start my new job on Monday driving localy in the state. The pay is great and I can't say I mind the traffic. Cause I am bigger then them. 😀 bwahahahaaaa And basicly I am my own boss with a radio with CD. 😀

So far, you are the only AT'er i know whou would be able to decimate my truck in an accident. 😛

Anyone here drive a train? 😛

Well... if you're ever in BC gimme a holler..... i still havent met up with ANY other TeAm mates...... i can barely afford to drive to work and back laet alone to an AT meet.....

I will surly let people know if I am in the area. But it might be a while. As of right now I am just running local. Internstate. Only one run to Wisconsin about once a month. But if I do, I will look yah all up.. 😀

You have my permission to run over stupid drivers. You were at my house at a LAN party. 🙂

Congrats! wtch out for dem der lisards in the truck stops 😛

Aberant
I have had a CB in my personal truck for almost 10 years since high school.

It will be nice to be able to BS with the other drivers. And to just listen to all the migermeraff that goes on. I would like to replace it with a UB and LB unit but since they cost about $200 for a decent one, I think I will wait. Plus the Uniden 66xl (I think) that I do have it's a little tweaked so I am not sure if I want to lose the tweakness. 😀 Plus it's one step down from a cobra that is about the same thing other then the name. Otherwise, they are identical..

And now a word from my friend

Weird Al Yankovic

I'm drivin' a truck
Drivin' a big ol' truck
Pedal to the metal, hope I don't run out of luck
Rollin' down the highway until the break of dawn
Drivin' a truck with my high heels on

My diesel rig is northward bound
It's time to put that hammer down
Just watchin' as the miles go flyin' by
I'm ridin' twenty tons of steel
But it's sure hard to hold the wheel
While I'm waiting for my nails to dry

Oh, I always gotta check my lipstick in that rear view mirror
And my pink angora sweater fits so tight
I'm jammin' gears and haulin' freight
Well, I sure hope my seams are straight
Lord, don't let my mascara run tonight

Because I'm drivin' a truck
Drivin' a big ol' truck
Smokey's on my tail and my accelerator's stuck
Got these eighteen wheels-a-rollin' until the break of dawn
Drivin' a truck with my high heels on

Oh, I don't mind when my crotchless panties creep right up on me
And my nipple rings don't bother me too much
But when I hit those big speed bumps
My darling little rhinestone pumps
Keep slippin' off the mother-lovin' clutch

But still I'm drivin' a truck
Drivin' a big ol' truck
Headin' down the interstate, just tryin' to make a buck
Wearin' feather boas with sequins and chiffon
While I'm drivin' a truck with my high heels on

I'm drivin' a truck
Drivin' a truck
Got a load to carry and some eyebrows left to pluck
And I'm late for my appointment down at my hair salon
So I'll be drivin' a truck with my high heels on

Ack! 😱 Thanks a lot Wellcky. I will remember that when I have to go down there to refill the tanker I will be driving next week. 😛

how do you get started on driving trucks?
I've wanted to do that for a long time... I love travelling across the country, and to be paid to drive cross country! it would awesome

hey wolfie - by UB and LB are you referring to different freqs ? Over here there's only 80 legal channels, and even at that, the bottom 40 only became legal about 4 years ago. Course, there's always the mods u can get for graveyards and such... is that what your referring to by UB/LB ?

PS Just sold my last bit of CB kit - a tripod antenna that got me to Germany once 😀

Aberant,
We have 40 channels here. These 40 fall into the AM band. But on some cb's there is a UB (upper band) and a LB (lower band). Also known as Upper and Lower Side band. Side band communications concentrates the output on only the upper or lower portion of the carrier signal and will double the effective distance that you can effectively communicate. (roughly 8 miles without tweaking) Side Band CB's are not nearly as common as standard 40 ch AM sets. But both parties must have Side Band transceivers to gain the advantage of sideband operation. And the radios are much more expencive.

I hope this make sense. But I got to get going...

[On the CB]
Ah, breaker one-nine, this here's the Rubber Duck. You gotta copy on me, Pig Pen, c'mon? Ah, yeah, 10-4, Pig Pen, fer shure, fer shure. By golly, it's clean clear to Flag Town, c'mon. Yeah, that's a big 10-4 there, Pig Pen, yeah, we definitely got the front door, good buddy. Mercy sakes alive, looks like we got us a convoy...

Was the dark of the moon on the sixth of June
In a Kenworth pullin' logs
Cab-over Pete with a reefer on
And a Jimmy haulin' hogs
We is headin' for bear on I-one-oh
'Bout a mile outta Shaky Town
I says, "Pig Pen, this here's the Rubber Duck.
"And I'm about to put the hammer down."

[Chorus]
'Cause we got a little convoy
Rockin' through the night.
Yeah, we got a little convoy,
Ain't she a beautiful sight?
Come on and join our convoy
Ain't nothin' gonna get in our way.
We gonna roll this truckin' convoy
'Cross the U-S-A.
Convoy!

[On the CB]
Ah, breaker, Pig Pen, this here's the Duck. And, you wanna back off them hogs? Yeah, 10-4, 'bout five mile or so. Ten, roger. Them hogs is gettin' in-tense up here.

By the time we got into Tulsa Town,
We had eighty-five trucks in all.
But they's a roadblock up on the cloverleaf,
And them bears was wall-to-wall.
Yeah, them smokies is thick as bugs on a bumper;
They even had a bear in the air!
I says, "Callin' all trucks, this here's the Duck.
"We about to go a-huntin' bear."

[Chorus]
'Cause we got a great big convoy
Rockin' through the night.
Yeah, we got a great big convoy,
Ain't she a beautiful sight?
Come on and join our convoy
Ain't nothin' gonna get in our way.
We gonna roll this truckin' convoy
'Cross the U-S-A.
Convoy!

[On the CB]
Ah, you wanna give me a 10-9 on that, Pig Pen? Negatory, Pig Pen; you're still too close. Yeah, them hogs is startin' to close up my sinuses. Mercy sakes, you better back off another ten.

Well, we rolled up Interstate 44
Like a rocket sled on rails.
We tore up all of our swindle sheets,
And left 'em settin' on the scales.
By the time we hit that Chi-town,
Them bears was a-gettin' smart:
They'd brought up some reinforcements
From the Illinoise National Guard.
There's armored cars, and tanks, and jeeps,
And rigs of ev'ry size.
Yeah, them chicken coops was full'a bears
And choppers filled the skies.
Well, we shot the line and we went for broke
With a thousand screamin' trucks
An' eleven long-haired Friends a' Jesus
In a chartreuse micra-bus.

[On the CB]
Ah, Rubber Duck to Sodbuster, come over. Yeah, 10-4, Sodbuster? Lissen, you wanna put that micra-bus right behind that suicide jockey? Yeah, he's haulin' dynamite, and he needs all the help he can get.

Well, we laid a strip for the Jersey shore
And prepared to cross the line
I could see the bridge was lined with bears
But I didn't have a dog-goned dime.
I says, "Pig Pen, this here's the Rubber Duck.
"We just ain't a-gonna pay no toll."
So we crashed the gate doing ninety-eight
I says "Let them truckers roll, 10-4."

[Chorus]
'Cause we got a mighty convoy
Rockin' through the night.
Yeah, we got a mighty convoy,
Ain't she a beautiful sight?
Come on and join our convoy
Ain't nothin' gonna get in our way.
We gonna roll this truckin' convoy
'Cross the U-S-A.

Convoy! Ah, 10-4, Pig Pen, what's your twenty?
Convoy! OMAHA? Well, they oughta know what to do with them hogs out there fer shure. Well, mercy
Convoy! sakes, good buddy, we gonna back on outta here, so keep the bugs off your glass and the bears off your...
Convoy! tail. We'll catch you on the flip-flop. This here's the Rubber Duck on the side.
Convoy! We gone. 'Bye,'bye.

Congrats on the license! I hope you visit my state (Florida) but I'm told it's a "dead end state" by the truck drivers in my company. 🙁

hey wolfie - am / sideband is illegal in UK ! of course, there's quite a lot of rigs around, but its still illegal - if u get caught u can wave bye bye to ur CB license 😱

Aberant,
I was not aware. We don't even have License for CB's here. And I thought the fcc here in the states where anal... Unless of course we run a home station with more then 4 watts output power. That goes for mobile radios as well. 4 watt max. That is for most of us. 😛
