OT: Criticisms volleyed against the Hollings bill

Power to the People!!

While I'm all for Capitalism, I object to these large corps that would like to control everything in our lives, ie. just like "company towns" where everything you buy has to come from one company, and they get to set the price. It stifles free enterprise and growth. Now they want the right to determine what we buy in the way of electronics, there it is, no modifications, no freedom to configure it as you want. Oh, and pay the fee to use it too! Greedy mothers.

Well, lets just take a page from their page---Just say NO!

I agree 100%. An industry that can pay 28Million to a singer to NOT sing isn't hurting too teribly bad. They've been crying about this stuff ever since we could record music of the radio with our reel to reel recorders. Seems to me they are still making money. In fact one of the things I like about MP3s is a lot of new artists & GOOD music is being distributed without the big record companies having a say in distribution, or production. I know in past years there have been bands/artists that were never "discovered" by a recording company. Now they have a way to distribute their music to the masses.

This bill is incredible in the lengths they are wanting to go in controlling technology.

I sent my fax yesterday, hopefully with enough changes that the congressional staff won't throw it away as a form letter. 🙂

I've also put an alert on my web site, linking to eff.org.
