ESA to end SMART-1 probe mission with a bang

The time to watch: Saturday, September 2nd at 10:41 p.m. PDT (Sept. 3rd, 0541 UT).
The nominal impact time favors observers in western parts of North America and across the Pacific Ocean. Depending on when SMART-1 hits, however, almost anyone could catch the flash.

There's a possability of seeing the impact cloud with backyard telescopes, so if you have on, or know some one that has one, try to check it out
The remains of tropical storm Ernesto will wash out any chance of seeing it from Western PA, but good luck to everyone else. I'll have to look for pics on the 'net.

Neat! It should be clear tonight here in No. California. That, and it's not past my bedtime. ;)

Did anyone see anything? It was way too cloudy here in central Texas to see anything.

Not from Sweden, the moon was not visible at all - it rained - as they say in UK - "cats and dogs"! :(
Saw a nice pic in my morning paper though. :)

Couldn't see it, thanks to smog in the Los Angeles area and some clouds off Hurricane now Tropical storm John blocked my view.
