I was at HWC also ... they introduced an OT section and it got closed after all the garbage that started... I *think* OTC got started (as a different site) because of that.

I used to post at Sharkyforums. I thought it was a great place to go for computer information (I never went 'off topic' at the time). They eventually closed their off topic forum and well over half of the members left for good. The most knowledgabe members all said they were going to Anandtech. I stuck it out for another two months or so, but Sharkyforums just couldn't recover. I eventually followed and liked Anandtech better. It wasn't for another year until 'off topic' lured me in with her evil tenticles.

A lot of people left after internet.com (?) became the parent company too. I do see some old names like Toolbox and Shinma still hanging around... I think they became employed by them ...

I don't think they get nearly the amount of quick responses as we do here so I don't know what I'd do without ATOT.
