this is why I don't mess around with rebates....good luck to all who do...I'm sure there is a lot of $$ out there.
I must be pretty lucky, I have personally received over $730 in rebates since the first of this year. The only one who I got stiffed on was a $30 Storix USB keychain drive rebate, mailed last April.

To be fair, though ... $50 of the total sum for this year came from Cendyne for a (Pioneer) 4X DVD-R drive purchased back in January, mailed extremely late. I actually had to call them and complain in order to get my rebate ... otherwise, it might never have arrived. I just wish Storix had a complaint line...

Good luck to the rest of you.

I have a Storix rebate outstanding also and I'm going to write them to try get that money that I deserve for buying one of their products.

Do you guys figure if my rebate status at RebatesHQ says:
Promotion: Item #23 - $30 Rebate on Cendyne DVD-RW Drive
Submission Type: MAIL
Date Received: 08-01-2003
Status: Processing Rebate
Status Detail: Your rebate is valid and is in the final stages of processing and should be sent to you within the next 30 days.

that I'll still get my rebate? It's just $30 thankfully and OfficeMax is supposed to pay another $30 so as long as OM doesn't go bankrupt too...

Nonetheless I'm gonna be pissed if they suddenly can't pay my valid rebate cuz cendyne ran out of cash. The drive was $90AR so I guess this will bump it up to like $120, not bad but too much rebate hassle for it to be worth it!(had to buy some insane combo of stuff)

Heh I got the same message. If you get it will take forever.

And it just might not work.

can't agree more, PC peripheral rebadging is simply a bleeding business when bundle with rebate.

The only grief is that one less reliable source for cheap lite-on burner. Heck, who still need a cd burner when u see it every 2 weeks on sale for $20-30?

just hope that DVD-burner will be like that within 2 years....

You know, PC peripheral rebadging is simply a bad business. Has been for years. This isn't the first time one of these guys has gone down the drain. Margins are too small to make much money, and because you're not building brand loyalty (you're just trying to undercut), you can't ever take the prices up. Sony can charge more than their stuff is worth and get it because of brand loyalty. Sony stands for something to certain people. Cendyne stands for...I dunno, rebates and rebadges I guess.

Regarding the Storix rebate, call them up (hold time is *very* short):

http://www.fatwallet.com/forums/messageview.cfm?catid=18&threadid=180952&highlight_key=y&lastpage=1

I know someone who's received the check, and I should be getting mine within a week. If not, I'll harass them until I do and you should too.

I don't know particulars, but Storix appears to be a small outfit that got flooded with more rebate claims than they expected. Apparently, they process submissions in-house, and dragged their feet for as long as possible. Unfortunately, this is how the rebate game is played, but unless we learn otherwise, I believe Storix intends to pay virtually all valid claims.

I finally opened my Storix Axis drive today, and slipped it onto a small key ring that's easily clipped onto my keychain. The Axis design will not support a normal key ring, of course, and the included neck cord is silly.

Guess they are too aggressive for market share, $0 - $20 after rebate is just not sustainable for long term. Never heard of Sony offer those kind of prices.

I was going for Cendyne (one with Lite On rebadged) last week, so glad the Lite On deal at BestBuy popped up; went for that instead.

Crap... I hope I see my rebate in the mail soon...

According to the article, certain rebates were secret, so maybe one of the Butabi brother suits will post it to you.

As if.

There goes my $30 (although it's been stated to be in in the final stages of completio for a while now...longest 30 days ever) 🙂

This will probably cause prices to rise momentarily until someone replaces Cendyne in the market.

Another mass Consumer Company brought down by greed. Do you think these Top execs got hurt? No of course not, these guys at the top walked away with millions in each of their pockets. It happened at Hayes Modems, then Enron and now Cendyne.

Officemax is the closest source for me to get Computer Gear so I have a bunch of Cendyne Logo's here including my keyboard.

I guess this means I will never get the $50 Cendyne Rebate from Staples purchase of the Cendyne 4X DVD+R drive 🙁 It has been in the "final stages of processing" for the last 6 weeks and no rebate sent out. What's worse is I really cannot call Staples on it since they screwed up and credit me way too much on a price match to OM on the same drive and it would suck if they figured it out and took back the credit (more than $50).

its already post in the rebate thread yesterday.
Karaktu had forwarded the news to OMAX Corporate. Joe will keep update.

That sucks, I just got a rebate check from them the other day and I now am wondering if I should go ahead and cash it and hope that it clears or just toss it in the trash?🙁

I have about $150 in outstanding Cendyne rebates.....I will roast Omax over an open fire if they do not make good on these rebates....if they burn the huge amount of Cendyne rebate purchasers, they will have an absolute PR nightmare on their hands...
