I asked this in cpu/oc but maybe they just are having a bad day over there ;)

I want to modify the 1600+ AGOIA I just received from Newegg to run at a higher multiplier.
It has to be detected by the mobo as a higer multiplier cpu, so maybe a 2200 or 2400 would be right.
Whatever it will do at the stock fsb (133/266).
I know there are bridges that have to be joined and maybe some that have to be cut.
I've never modified an AMD cpu this way, I know some of you have (Confused, are you listening?).
Let me know what I can do to make it work, it will go online with seti running 24/7 as soon as it is modded.
Sorry to ask for all the hand holding here, but I'm a bit nervous about cutting traces even though I am committed to doing it.
I just want a little guidance ;)
Thanks!

here is a page that will help you figure out which ones to mod, and for what multiplier.

Thanks guys, so I have this 1600+
What multiplier should I try for?
Is there a high probability it will run as a 2400+?
Should I try for it, and what if it wont work as a 2400+?
Then can I change it down to a 2200+?

I have a couple Golden Sockets.. it can make it a lot easier. You just need unlocked processors, like MPs or modded XPs or earlier unlocked Athlons.

What's a golden socket?

I'm going to have to mod my 1600+ because the mobo isn't 'overclockable'
It needs to read the cpu and see it as a 2200+ or 2400+ and run that way.

OK, OK, i've been away visiting a friend ;)

That XP Painting guide is what i used to find the multipliers i wanted for my CPU. The 1600+ have been generally reaching 1700MHz+ (13x multiplier equivelent)

I found that i could use an exacto knife to cut those L2/3 bridges that needed to be broken, and that a sharp pencil (like a 0.5mm retractable one) will work for connecting those needed to be connected :)

The bridges ARE small, so precision and a good eyesight as well as hand/eye co-ordination is needed! :)

Good luck :)

Ah, Capt'n Rick has finally decided to take advantage of the new faster AT Forums. :)

You must tell them about the solid copper cooler you have your main machine. :D
